I'd take these test with a grain of salt and not base my opinion on a product just according to that one test.

Agreed. I never base buying any AV products by any of these tests.

True, especially when the source is AV-TEST, just look at their Performance Metric, how is it like 95% of the AVs have top notch performance (as in light)?? they surely can't be so alike in terms of performance. and ESET is always the worst according to them for some reason yet AV-Comparatives lists it as the lightest. Funny

I'm not either saying that youtube test are better, they are actually probably worse, theoretically. They are only a mere showcase of how a product reacts in that certain and specific condition.

What is everyone's opinion about ThreatTrack, the producer of Vipre? I generally don't use security products from the US, China, or Russia, but really like the way my laptop runs with Vipre loaded. Is it trustworthy from a privacy and data sharing perspective? Thanks.

"AV-Comparatives is an independent organization offering systematic testing that checks whether security software, such as PC/Mac-based antivirus products and mobile security solutions, lives up to its promises.":argh:

Paid off for results I would not doubt.

AV products are going the way of the dinosaurs, just taking up space.

White list/ black list only true performers (zero day). Such as OS Armor, AppGuard and some others.

Fake news or not, that is an interesting thread over there at MalwareTips. Honestly, the whole who is a trustworthy company question just makes my brain hurt ... probably cooked by my smart phone. I know any privacy is probably an illusion when it comes to security software, but I will stick with Emsisoft, Eset, and F-Secure. They seem to be admirable companies and at least two of them run well on my laptop.

I've seen Vipre doing good on several different test lately. Doesn't Vipre also have a HIPS?

Bitdefender engine ? Just wondering. Once upon a time (Counterspy !) it was good. Then everything went south, a third rate AV.
To each his own, but why not stick to the products with top scores in av-comparatives ?

This product has this curse of getting acquired, spun off and reacquired so many times over the years:

Sunbelt ---> GFI ---> Threattrack ---> J2Global. I wonder if the product is profitable enough to keep running over the years. We might see a shutdown soon....
