    Thanks!

At the end Mark wrote, "Hope this helps," but it didn't really. :) Not sure what the issue is that Mark is referring to. If the "browser" template is used for Outlook, do I read it right that HMP.A will then prevent me from opening a ZIP file containing a wanted program? Why would it work any differently than if I downloaded a wanted program via Firefox?

In addition to #13367 i found a similar post:
Not, if it is protected with the "Browser" template. But if you are using the "Office"-template, it will be prevented, because of the "Application Lockdown".
(The "Browser" template has also the Application Lockdown, but a browser is used to download executables and the user "want to execute" them, so HMP.A is allowing it with this template)

If you run regedit and navigate to local machine\software\HitmanPro.Alert\_templates_\ you can view which features are enabled/disabled for the various templates.

So, the bottom line is that I should be using the browser template for Outlook, is that right?

Honestly, I am more confused now than two days ago before 588 had undesirable effects and I had to install 586 and review the HMP.A settings.

I recommend to use the office template, if any.
    Executable attachments are often malware.
If you want to receive executable files, than use another way, instead of outlook attachments.

I just checked the Exploit Mitigations Applications Category, and I can't see the "Other" category. Is it removed?

Edit: Never mind. It's not removed. If it's empty, it will be hidden. But if you add something to it, it re-appears. :)

If you are opening attachments from time to time, yes. And this template has a Keystroke Encryption.
If you don't plan to open attachments, you can switch to the "Office"-template which is more secure (but it has no Keystroke Encryption)

I'm sure this is a silly question, but is there any point in adding VPN software to HMP.A's protected programs?

If you have a higher CPU-Usage while downloading files via VPN, or VPN tool-issues, or if you experience a slower download speed if HMP.A is enabled, you can disable Network Lockdown which can solve some issues.
But i'm not sure if i would protect a VPN-client with HMP.A :doubt:, maybe not.

    Thanks! :thumb:

I do regularly open business-related attachments, so that's the way to go for me.

Actually that is a good question. Will be curious about the answer myself.

I've no problems currently running the VPN without Alert's protection so I guess I could try it and see. What template though? Maybe Browsers because you probably will download installers with the VPN.

Edit: No problem so far (shrugs shoulders). :isay:

If you have no problems with "Browsers", then you can leave it protected with this template :doubt:
Keep an eye on it ;)

Cannot disable Cryptoguard on version 3.6.4 588. Tried multiple times, restarted the PC and it still will not disable.

Does HMPA support keystroke encryption for the Edge browser yet? It's not showing up on mine, even though Edge is protected with the browser template.

HMP.A updated to build 588 on a family member's PC.

This PC seems to have the same problem (100% CPU, completely unresponsive) when running iTunes. Note: it is not protected by EIS, but Windows' default Defender.

So build 588 is not compatible with iTunes (on some systems)?

It was disabled long time ago, and it is still disabled:

OK thanks! Guess that's a good enough reason to stop using Edge for anything that requires a login! :D

Are you sure it's HMPA causing the problem? You could confirm by excluding iTunes from HMPA protections.

I have the same problem here with 588 (and maybe EIS?). Everytime I am opening iTunes the system will lock up entirely.

I didn't have a problem iTunes but lately Firefox was misbehaving. Removed HMPA and things appear better...may be just a conincidence though.

Others may feel different, but the traffic is encrypted, not only is it not necessary to protect your VPN with HMP.A
it may cause serious issues or fail to properly encrypt traffic or content.
    IMHO avoid doing this.

Encrypted traffic doesn't stop any possible exploits / bugs / hackers in the client software though, does it? Since enabling HMP.A's protection I have not had any problems running my VPN software or had any connection issues.

    ... Monitoring. :ninja:

It would be great if Erik or Mark could weigh in on this discussion.

I uninstalled HMP.A and iTunes ran just fine.

Did not think about the exclusion; will try that later today.
