Upgraded to Windows 10 Creators Update (1703).

HitmanPro.Alert 3.6.4 build 588 (final) is still locking up my system. Problems seem to start as soon as I open iTunes (x64).

Had to uninstall HitmanPro.Alert because of this :(

After you have created a special registry-key, you can install an old version and it doesn't auto-update to a newer version anymore (for example to 588, which locks up your system). Or you can block it with the Windows-Firewall.

Guys, you are doing something wrong,
like running a full featured security, like Norton360, or always run the latest build of WIN10, a few hours after launch.

No issues on my office machine.
HMP.A build 588 is running fine.

I want to try going back to the previous build. Where can I find it? This page says it's offering build 586, but when downloaded, the file properties say it's actually 588.

3.6.4-588 installed OK with my last boot. Firefox, Thunderbird, Chrome, Edge, and LibreOffice all open fine. No errors so far.

Just being curious and well-prepared, I hope... (Macrium Reflect image of 1607 to return to)

Windows 10 1703 is running fine so far, except for HMPA, but that problem was the same on 1603.

Anyone else here running EIS, HMPA and iTunes on any 64 bits Windows 10? I wonder whether that trio is the cause of my problems.

The download link for HMPA 3.6.3 build 586 RC2 still offers build 586.
The 586 RC is the same as the 586 release.

    HI

Can I check what are the browsers that are supported by HMPA under Safe Browsing? My chromium and cent browsers look like not supported. Is it possible to add other browsers to the Safe Browsing?

    Thanks

have you tried to shield them via exploit mitigation tile?

Thanks, I downloaded and installed it after uninstalling 588. :thumb:

On opening the new HMP.A 586 installation, I see that launching Outlook did not get it placed automatically on the list of protected applications. Which mitigation template should it go under? I'm guessing either "Office" or "Other," but am not sure which option is better for an e-mail client.

Also, how does one add a Firefox "plugin container" to the protected applications? HMP.A on my Win7 system lists containers for Firefox and Pale Moon. How do I add these containers to HMP.A on the other PC?

I keep my email clients set to browser protection template. I'm not sure what the difference is between browser and office, but since the email can preview HTML, not taking chances.

It appears that both categories apply the same mitigationso_O

your PC does not implode even if you make a mistake in choosing the "right" template (and anyway you can change it quickly so feel free to test) :)

    About plugin container & Firefox:
if i am not wrong, it should be enough to shield Firefox (the first one, infact, should inherit automatically such property)

Yes, it's a little mystifying, but as long as it works...

I added Outlook protection under the Browser category. If I later decide to put it under "Office," will it be necessary to first remove it from the Browser category? Wondering it there's any downside to having Outlook listed in HMP.A under both the Browser and the Office templates.

I tested changing the template for Outlook, and now Outlook is listed under two templates. Is it recommended to remove one of them, or does it make no difference?

if you want to change template, you have to remove the app from exploit protection and then add it again with the "proper" template

Beats me. The templates all contain the same 12 mitigations. Not sure of the purpose for having multiple templates, since with each app you can select or deselect from among the 12 if needed.

Keystroke Encryption only works in Browsers and Other.

Firefox Plugin Container should be under Plugins.

Only Browsers has Safe Browsing, and is the only one that needs it.

Keystroke encryption is under Risk reduction, not Exploit mitigations.

Slightly off-topic, does anyone recall when the HMP.A bundles go on sale? I recall Halloween last time. This may have changed under their new corporate overlords...

Please tell me this is a false positive. Two malware scans were neg. I'd like to access my email using my preferred browser. Installed Firefox just for this issue and had no problems. Help?

Thanks to all for the insights.

I decided to leave Outlook under the Browser template: it's reassuring to see that orange encryption flyout as I'm typing in the e-mail client.

I'm open to changing it back to the Office template, if necessary.
