You and me both! Not only is it annoying, but it's also sporadic and very hard to figure...

Updated two machines on Win 10. On one, it took several "Retry" before it could be successfully done otherwise no problem...

I have a general question about the Security Monthly Quality Rollups for Win7.

I notice that the January one (KB 3212646) is now available for updating and this is 142.8 mb in size.

My system is up to date and I installed the November and December equivalents and this is confirmed when I look at my Update History.. However when I look at my Installed updates, I see that December's is there but November's is missing. Since these rollups are now cumulative, did the December rollup include everything that was in the November one and then delete the November rollup from my system? It looks to me as that is what happened and that when I install the January rollup, the December Rollup will be deleted. Out of interest I checked the size of the December Rollup (KB 3197868 and it was 133.9 mb in size.

Grateful if anyone can confirm if my understanding is correct.

    @Cache, regarding Rollups,

Windows update history shows all updates that were installed - the full history.
Windows installed updates, on the other hand, only shows those updates that can be uninstalled.
Thus, all installed rollups show in Windows update history, but as only the latest rollup can be uninstalled, only the latest installed rollup shows in Windows installed updates.
If one uninstalls the latest rollup, next, Windows installed updates will show the second last installed rollup, which is now the latest one that is still installed.
This shows that the second last was not uninstalled with installing the latest, it was only that in Windows installed updates it was not shown, as only the latest is shown, as only the latest rollup can be uninstalled.

And to my knowledge, with installing the latest rollup the previous one is not uninstalled.
To my knowledge, with installing the latest rollup, nothing is uninstalled, but only the new content is added to the earlier content - cumulative.
And in the same way, with uninstalling the latest rollup, only the last added content is uninstalled.

Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the helpful reply and I think I understand this complicated process a little better now!

    Microsoft re-releases snooping patches KB 2952664 (for Win7), KB 2976978 (Win 8.1).

Also following this path. I am sure it has more to do with being sensible with what you do with you computer.

I'm gonna do a clean install of Win 10 later today and that's it, before I enable wifi I'm gonna disable windows update and rely on system and browser Harding along with the other conventional security tools including Destroy Windows Spying.

Personally, I appreciate them not releasing it if it isn't ready. I've had enough of apps being rushed out and then not working. (Malwarebytes 3 being one.)
