It is for me. And can be for anyone once it's learned how you like to run your box. I have my FW in Custom Policy mode, and D+ in Paranoid with the trusted vendor list deleted, and never hear a peep out of it.

The FW only chirps once a month, when I update Windows. It's svchost looking to connect to WU servers.

You can have 35 security programs or more
running all at once and it still will not give you
the same defense of a "CLEAN IMAGE" to restore with

Imaging programs are they best defense there is against malware
you just need a way to know ""IF"" you are infected

v6 Is a lot more silent take it from me.

Edit to add: I know full well how to use it and I've used it plenty. 5.10x was a little noisy at first sure, but v6 is anything but. You hardly know v6 is is installed.

The quietness or noisiness of CFW/CIS depends on which settings you set it to (during install or after install), whether you keep/delete the TVL (you can do that), and whether you already have your own config file to import upon re-installing a new version (if the version allows it but not always recommended). There's also the factor of static vs dynamic setup in play (Guy A doesn't install or toy around with new software often while Guy B does for example).

With SRP in your admin account, I guess if you want to install software you just have to save it in program files in order to execute it?

Nice setup and nice that you have all angles covered from network security to backup to updating software to overall system security.

Tried running Comodo FW that way, worked ok except for just an occasional slowdown, but my Avast settings are so tight, I have it set to scan the whole dam planet, maybe there was some kind of conflict. Anyway, everything seems to work fine with Comodo FW on safe mode, both sides of it. And it does alert me, if something tries to mess around with the registry. Lesson learned, every setup is different, in the way things interact.

If you had the Web Shield running, there is indeed a conflict with it & most 3'rd party outbound FW's. And the same probably rings true for Avira's Web Guard, since it's functionality is almost identical. Anytime I hear Comodo & slowdown mentioned in the same breath, there has to be some conflict, or a corrupt install.

I recommend to anyone running a 3PT FW to use only the file scanning components of real-time AV's to avoid such conflicts. Everything else is pretty much bells, whistles & bloat anyway. The file shield/guard is the real guts of any AV, and all you really need in the end.

But better yet, I recommend to just use the entire suite of a product these days if you want real-time AV scanning. There was once a time when I preferred to mix it up with dedicated apps, each serving a purpose, but there's so much conflict these days. Sometimes I even think these vendors intentionally make it so their products don't play nicely with others just to spite each other. You go to install something and it says to uninstall every other security app on your box first, lol. It's absurd. So if I liked Comodo FW/D+, and wanted a real-time AV, I'd just use the whole CIS suite.

The only other option I'd consider is MSE, since it's first party/integrated the potential for conflict is very low.

But personally I'm really liking my VT Hash Check - autoscan downloads thing I've got goin on. Don't have to worry about any of that crap, or a footprint, and get a malware database no single AV product can match. Then you just sandbox your USB ports and CD/DVD drive, and all vectors covered.
