I tried to download Anti Virus V4 but keep getting an error message:

Warning: This server is requesting your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authendication without a secure connection).

Does this mean I have to haul my computer up 3 flights of stairs and plug it directly into the cable modem?

This message will be displayed no matter from which location you are downloading.

The message is only saying that the connection between your client and the server is not secure. Means the username and password are not send encrypted, there is nothing you can do about it.

Does this mean that after spending the money to purchase the produce I can not download it?

That does not make any sense.

Both sites give me the same error and yes, I am using the password and username I received in the mail after the online purchase.

Are you copying and pasting the username and password?

If so, try typing them as copying and pasting often picks up and extra space at the end meaning the username and password is wrong when pasted.

    Hello,

I did not notice this behavior with downloading the software using Internet Explorer 8.0 on Microsoft Windows 7.

Can you provide additional information about your operating system, web browser, Internet connection and other security tools which might be installed on the system? Perhaps one of them is causing this as a side-effect.

    Regards,

The important bit is in bold.....it's an error not a warning. It's only becuase it's http not https. Same would happen on 90% of webites until you tick the "don't tell me again" box

Indeed it is only a warning, you should be able to ignore it and continue your download.
