Arovax Shield or WinPatrol: Any added benefit?

A simple question (I think): If I already have Online Armor or Comodo Firewall w/ Defense+ running, will adding Arovax Shield or WinPatrol provide any coverage for any areas that OA or CFP doesn't already cover?

As a OA user, i will only reply about it :

Arovax shield will add more internet settings protection but seems to be no more devellopped
Winpatrol will add hidden files detection and delayed startup functionnality

WinPatrol definitely!
Even the Free version of WinPatrol 2007 is better than Arovax (not Avorax...) Shield.
I deliberately executed some Self-extracted files with malware (Virtumonde Trojan) and
-Arovax had NO reaction!
-WinPatrol 2007 alerted me right away.

Apart from Security, WinPatrol 2007 has more Tools/Features to offer you.
It's a nice Tool to have. Do not expect from it to act/protect like a HIPS, Firewall etc.
Added Value/Benefit:
It has a good selection of Tools that can help you trace changes in your system.
At times, it alerted me when changes in files (Hosts etc.) were about to take place.

Download the Free version, test it, and get the PLUS version of WinPatrol 2007 if you like it.

Will the free version do this too? Edit: Nevermind, I went to the comparison page and saw that it does.

By "hidden files detection" do you mean, "Undocumented or HIDDEN Registry Startup Keys"?

So do you think it's worth installing WP just for these two features?

How about Comodo users, what do you think about adding WinPatrol Free?

Interesting. The hidden files feature looks useful, but like you said, probably not useful with OA or CFP. It would be redundant for me to install it. Looks good for someone who doesn't want a full HIPS, though. Thanks for your response.

 

Did you install it and examine all the features? I like it because it groups together and lets you manage a number of useful categories of data, such as startup items, running services, and installed IE BHO's. It also warns if an attempt is made to change the HOSTS file or the IE home page. That's a lot of good stuff for freeware that works on both XP and Vista, and gets along with pretty much every other security app. But hey, if you don't need it then not to worry
