I guess I won't even test it, who will want to try a reduced version of KAV with a reduced protection when you have full AVs for free. I think this is their emergency strategy to stop losing users and feed their cloud. They are going to have a hard time in the consumer market if they don't adapt quickly
KAV Free does offer basic protection but that's exactly its aim. Its not meant to compete with the company's premium products but rather to offer basic AV protection to every one. It succeeds at that goal rather admirably with a clean and user-friendly interface and its long overdue.
Paying for more is not the question for me. I have a unused payed KAV licence sitting here, but don't want to use it. I'm always looking for a layered security, with minimal impact and annoyance. As I rate myself a experienced user, I'm looking for a protection, that is not covered by brain.exe...
It appeared to be the KAV plugin for IE. Also, I have Adguard the two bumped heads. I uninstalled and reinstalled KAV without the IE plugin and it works fine now.
Anyone knows how often does the free KAV updates its definitions? Once a day, twice daily, every few hours or user customizable? TIA
When I tested it it was updating once an hour (if I remember correctly) but you could change schedule settings.
I would have to reinstall it in VM since I don't run it any more. I'll report as soon as I can test it.
after several attempts installing this on windows xp pro i get this pop up 3/4 of the way of install **see image
