And that is a lot more powerful than an Intel Celeron. ... Anyway, after uninstalling KFA and then using their removal tool Macrium Reflect would not image my machine, SFC /SCANNOW found and fixed some files but MR still wouldn't work. I tried other stuff but nothing helped so I finally restored an image taken just before KFA was installed. Everything is back working as it should again now. I think I'll give KFA a miss for a while.
I encountered the same issue after using Kaspersky's removal tool - it seems to mess with System Restore. After trying many things, this fixed things for me. (I have since always removed Kaspersky via the Control Panel with no ill effects.)
Thankyou so much for posting that link System Restore is finally working again for me, after a few months of being broken. I didn't realise that the Kaspersky removal tool had caused the issue and I also had spent some time trying to find a fix, with no success.
I also just emailed that link to Shane at tweaking.com so that he can add it as fix in Windows Repair.

I just upgraded to KAV 19 from 18 and while Network Attack Blocker and System Watcher are nice additions, I would like to disable IM AV and Mail AV as these are of no use to me. The RAM usage appears to have increased a bit as well. Interestingly, I had to upgrade to KAV 19 manually since 18 didn't even tell me about a new version and Action Center actually reverted to Windows Defender's AV. That is how I even found out that KAV was outdated and not detected as enabled in Windows 10. The constant registration nags in 18 were annoying as well. Hopefully, that isn't as noticeable in 19.
It's been almost two weeks since I upgraded to KAV 19. Just wanted to note that the annoying registration popup from KAV 18 hasn't popped up yet in KAV 19. Hopefully, it's gone for good!
KAV 19 always seems to be taking up some CPU cycles, between 3-8% and I'm not really doing anything at the moment. Anyone know why? It doesn't seem to be doing a scan and it's not doing a DB update. I checked under the KAV Scan menu and nothing is active. Update - seems to have stopped now. But, it's weird. Not sure what KAV is doing.
that's the reason I have it uninstalled, I even tried normal heuristics and still the same, rootkit scans are happening too often, I feel it is very heavy: I tried avg/avast, eset, emsisoft, bitdefender and I have bad experience with Kaspersky scans even in 2019 ver, even at startup I can hear the characteristic CPU sound and only with KIS. For me its unbearable. Another example I installed KIS on GF laptop and it killed it completely, installed Avast all back to normal (newest i5 CPU, 8 gig ram). However it is one of the lightest when it stays quiet (i.e. no rootkit scans/normal scans). I like a quiet PC, with kaspersky I hear WWWWUUUUUU fan sound all the time (I'm on air), the only one doing this. Perhaps its because Kaspersky is paranoid which is good, but this is too much
I had to uninstall it because it kept crashing at start up and I saw it didn't update for 2 days. I'll try it again soon.
If you encounter issues opening some web pages (like Secure Connection Failed in Firefox) while using KAF then you should disable the scanning of encrypted webpages temporarily. There is a bug that should be fixed in the next patch. i.imgur.com/wiEgF7L.png
It breaks the VSS service. It not only affects System Restore but Acronis and other programs as well.
I've tried to like this program but I just installed it on a slightly higher spec'd machine than the one before. Once again KFA was using around 27 % of my CPU when idle and not scanning. I don't know why, but KFA does not like my machines. Back to Norton.
I've also tried KFA this week and hell yeah it always goes crazy on my computer, now for a few days on Windows defender and realy impressed how effective it is on dectection/protection... but a little heavy on opening the download folder with .exe files, maybe i'll switch back to AVG free.
On Windows 7 the free Kaspersky version seems much more usable than Defender, it is not a resource hog like the build one.If you are afraid of it due to politics don t use it.But the hardware is anyway build in another country and has also a smart BIOS installed and coded by individuals that you do not know as well . It works just fine on my AMD machine.
