Virus updates failing

    Updates are failing on all 3 of my PC's (running the latest V4.0.417). Are there problems with the update servers? This started happening intermittently over the past several days (i.e. if I manually retried after the failure it worked) but now is happening every time and manual retries don't work. Can anyone help?

    Try clearing your update cache in advanced setup.

    No problems here, also using 4.0.417.

    What error message do you get when you run a manual update?

    Bingo. That fixed it. Thanks.

    Oops, spoke too soon. Only fixed it on one of the 3 PC's.

    Marcos there is no specific error message. Just "Virus signature database update failed."

    Grumble, well, ok, after another clear-the-cache attempt after the most recent failure, now the second PC is working again.

    Mmm, I suppose, but what would be nice to know is why clearing the cache is necessary. What caused the problem to begin with?

    It's not, it's just one of those random things in life that likes to piss you off. ;)
