I'm installing NOD32 trial on this machine. I see this error. Does anyone know what it is? There doesn't appear to be any virus on this machine but perhaps I should do an online.

Sent, thank you. I installed on another machine yesterday with no problems and two weeks before another without issue. Only this machine.

I emptied temp folders, made sure user desktop folder was empty, etc - does not work. Now I can't even delete the files created in program files. What a hassle. Thanks anyway guys.

sheesh. Sorry to sound so impatient but I don't want to spend all day debugging an install. Maybe it's not meant to be. I'm about to install something that will.

I have no idea what this means:

I'm having enough trouble with windows update in one machine. 3 others updated fine.

Yeah, i'm having problems with 2 machines now. However, a major problem with one machine and windows update.
What does that have to do with this thread? That is Kaspersky/Oupost compatibility issue and has no business in a NOD32 thread. Sorry, I don't understand your post. Perhaps if you explain. You quote me then post a link that has no connection and does not make sense.

I was just wondering if it is the same machine you are having problems with trying to install either KAV or NOD? It might seem that if you cannot install either KAV or NOD on that machine then it is some other problem with that machine then the AV.

I realize it's not the software's fault but rather something conflicting with the install process. Debugging is a pain, and sometimes requires a day or so. I have other things I want to do and/or catch up on..... i'm just frustrated. I have several laptops (old) here that I need to fix. If I fix two, one will be given to me.

    I tried different ways. I don't understand...

    Try this:

Click Start, then 'Run', then in the box type this:

    C:\Program Files\Eset\Install\Setup.exe/test

when typing it from a command prompt be sure to use quotes:

    'C:\>Program Files\ESET\Install\setup.exe /test'

Else the command line parser will think the command ends at c:\program and sees the rest as parameters.

    Good ol' dos magic

Thanks for your help guys but I have decided not to install NOD32 on thismachine as I have seen others with the same problem and no solution as of yet. Running that parameter has solved nothing and I'm sure it will be the same result (test).

Are you running any Symantec products resident on your computer?

What solution did Eset offer when you emailed them? They have some diagnostic tools available.

    Cheers :D
