    did anyone try it? is it as good as Nav or pc-cillin?
    is its free dos scanner as good as f-prot's

    I would stick with f-prot. Its much better in terms of detection rate and engine stability.

    Bitdefender has nice free cleaning tools but the antivirus software they sell is not very impressiv. So as Technodrome said there are better solutions out there (even better than NAV or PC-Cillin).

    For free anti virus scanners F-Prot for DOS is IMHO still the best.

    Oh gracious WIZ...

    Verily I should like to give F-Prot for DOS a trial run.

    How does one go about virus-scanning WinME files from a DOS prompt?

    I don't own a pocket protector or a slide rule. Please talk down to me. The downer the better. :p
