Hi @ Wilders When creating and using WinPE 11-10 Sergei Strelec (x64) 2025.01.19 is it necessary to turn off Secure Boot? Thank you Terry
Is this still needed after D/L the ISO? Thanks Update patch from version WinPE11_10_Sergei_Strelec_x64_2025.01.19
The update patch is for those who want to save download data and update their previous ISO. I always download the new ISO.
No it's not. Thousands of users are now infected. Oddly they, included myself, love to be hacked and robbed
well i had to disable kaspersky to create an usb stick just wondering if another antivirus found malware
Long ago, those that use Strelec were told to disable your AV before trying to create your Strelec USB drive. Windows Defender also will pick up various potential "infections" from the various programs in the ISO. It can be alarming, but they are false positives. If you choose to use Strelec, disabling the AV before creating the USB is necessary, but this has been talked about for a long time in this thread. Hope that helps. Here is one of the links talking about this: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/sergei-strelec-winpe.450971/#post-3139913
Hi @Jim1cor13 I am one of those who tried to create a Strelec USB on a number of occasions and Windows Defender went mad highlighting and deleting so called viruses. Funny thing is I have created USB bootable USB's from the 19/01/2025 and 05/02/2025 versions without a peep from Win Defender. Also to use them I haven't had to disable Secure Boot. So all is looking good. Even Hasleo Backup latest version is on it. Terry
Hi Terry! Sounds good. Personally I'm still using Strelec from June 2023, though I have downloaded the most recent ISO. It really is a very useful set of tools that handle so many things. Hope you are doing well Terry and thanks for your reply.
Working without issue here and no malware/as AVs always gripe at some modified programs that actually have capability to bump into sensitive internal pathways.
I always mount it on a USB using UltraIso (like he says in one folder that comes in the package) and I never had problems or false positives with ESET NOD32
maybe you do not experience trouble in usage, but some programs are illegal licensed, to give examples: AIDA64, GetDataBack, "TeraCopy.Pro.v3.6.0.4" (which is from 2021), O&O Defrag 24. the use of these programs i definitely illegal in this condition. with online access as example GetDataBack will return to trial mode, O&O Defrag also - both will reject the given license. so, if you get sued while or after using strelec, you got the reason now.
I haven't had the need to even use my (older) copy of Strelec ISO for awhile, however it is still the fastest loading PE on this end.
I downloaded the latest Strelec today, I usually disable windows defender so it doesn't interfere with the making of the boot USB, but some others said they haven't noticed any threats from their anti virus. Using Rufus, windows defender caught 3 programs, of course, but I could tell by the name of the threats it is the usual part of program files and how some are packaged. I know I should have disabled defender, but some say they haven't had any threats show up. I'll make the boot ISO to USB with it disabled next try. I think the Strelec WinPE to me is one of the best and very fast loading. I usually still use an old Strelec from 06-05-2023 that suits my needs, but I wanted to try this latest version. Anyone else have the usual "threats" noted by their AV for this latest version of 02-17-2025 ISO?
