There are some, but the one's that would be the most important are not listed because the Developer of this "tool" did not provide the product details correctly.
The previous issue was that only the uninstallers where listed if I'm right.

Am I the only one who has a hard time with this orange on dark? my eye's really have an issue with that.
Don't get me wrong, I like the label "Community" but the color is making it hard to see, I would prefer something that's visually easier on the eyes.

    Yes.;):)

It would be interesting to know Kyle's opinion of how correct detection by SUMO is possible:

    P.S.

I inserted an old image of SUMO that I had posted in the specific thread.

    Hi @Tigzy:

I am testing the UCheck Free Portable BETA v5.0.5.0 offered 14-Nov-2023 in post # 943, which I run from a removable USB stick as an Administrator.

I am unable to sort portable apps listed on the Portable tab when I click on any column header (e.g., to sort by PROGRAM). I downloaded a fresh copy of the UCheck64.exe BETA and the problem persists, and running the latest UCheck BETA from my hard drive at C:\Users\<myusername>\Downloads\ does not help.

EDIT: Please note that installed programs on the Installed tab sort correctly.

My Revo Uninstaller Free Portable v2.4.5 has two RevoUn.exe files - the 64-bit version at E:\Portable\Revo Uninstaller 2_4_5\x64 and 32-bit version at E:\Portable\Revo Uninstaller 2_4_5\x86. The image below highlights the E:\Portable\Revo Uninstaller 2_4_5\x86 folder where the 32-bit version is located.

The 64-bit version of RevoUn.exe (highlighted in green below) is corrected listed Under Revo Uninstaller in the tree view of UCheck BETA, but for some reason the 32-bit version (highlighted in red below) is incorrectly listed under my Dism++ utility (i.e., under E:\Portable\Dism 10_1_1002_1\Config\x86), even though the LOCATION of the 32-bit version is correctly detected by UCheck BETA as E:\Portable\Revo Uninstaller 2_4_5\x86\RevoUn.exe.

That is weird, because it was verified this morning again. I can sort any column, and they persist into settings...
EDIT: Oh, portable. YES, you can't sort a treeview.

Same for me, if I do not put on my reading glasses, the reds or reddish orange are blurry.

Blues or greens are usually easier for me, but I figure all they are trying to do is make it stand out.
So we kind of will stop trying to read the word "Community" and just get used to the fact that if there is a reddish label at the beginning, it's a community app.

I agree, and if someone has hundreds of portable apps, well they are used to having a long list of installed apps.
If SUMo was able to have it all under a single list, why is UCheck not able to... ?

Well, there's 2 things: 1/ It's already done, and we've spent hours on this...
Secund, I trully think a treeview makes more sense when listing files in different directory structures. Even if there's only a few of them, it quickly helps identifying where those files are located.

As for colors, that's an easy change. We'll see what can be done

Looks like arm64/x86/x64 applications are "Grouped" under the first folder they are found, instead of placed in their own position in the tree.
    Have the same issue here.

Does that happen if you have multiple times the same file name / program ?

No it seems to be the folder name that takes over the grouping, see DM.

    Hi Tigzy:

That's going to make it very difficult for users to find information about their portable apps if they can't sort by PROGRAM alphabetically. There doesn't appear to be any logical sort order for the scan results on that Portable tab, and when I tried to find information about the update STATUS of AdwCleaner v8.4.0 (the only portable app currently supported by UCheck) I had to scroll down past ~ 25 other portable apps, where it is randomly listed between HiBit Uninstaller Portable and TreeSize Free Portable.

That also doesn't explain the glitch I mentioned in my post # 954 where my 32-bit RevoUn.exe executable was listed under Dism++ instead of under Revo Uninstaller Free Portable.

For now I can filter out Unsupported apps so I only see AdwCleaner v8.4.0 listed on my Portable tab, but the problem will return once Adlice Software expands the list of Portable apps that are scanned for available updates by UCheck.

Have you tried the filters ? They should work the same way.
EDIT: I'm adding sorting for treeview, however it will only sort withing the same dir. But that should help you nonetheless.

I found the issue with random misplacement of certain items.
They seem to be added to nodes where parent folder have already been added before. We'll fix

    @Tigzy
    Hi there,

Here are some very limited checks on the new version of the program. I am sending them just for further thoughts.

    Cattura1.PNG

Ideally I would say that if a program is identified as "Installed" (Community-Installed or Compatible-Installed) it should not be in both lists. I think it might be confusing

    Some questions:
For those programs that are present in the Portable list, as in the example below:
    Cattura3.PNG

Do you foresee subsequent modifications to exclude irrelevant entries with something like checkboxes (a job that each of us users would do) or will there be an "all or nothing" logic?

These are the first things that come to mind.
I will continue with tests and checks in the next few days.

    A thousand thanks.
My impression is that everything is on the right track.

    @Tigzy

    Sorry, I forgot one question:
The future logic of the program, as far as can be foreseen today, will be to have a single list of programs present on the machine (installed and portable) or to manage two distinct views, installed and portable, each with the relevant updates available?

    Hi @Tigzy

No worries, if it suits most people, I will just adjust and follow the majority :):thumb:

    Hi Tigzy:

If possible, would you be able to list supported portable apps with an available update first (sorted alphabetically), then supported portable apps that are up-to-date (sorted alphabetically) and then unsupported portable apps (sorted alphabetically)? That is the default sort order used on the Portable tab of QuickInstaller Preview v0.2.x, which makes it much easier to see that a v7.66 update was just released for my HWiNFO Portable v7.64 app.

Well it's your responsibility to not add folders where some software are installed. There's no magic here...

Nope, however we'll do our best to exclude installers/uninstallers and everything that doesn't "look" like portable app, using PE heuristics. That'll come soon

The "Installed" tab is an overview of EVERYTHING scanned. It'll (I believe) remain as 2 lists, one for installation, one for portable (the overall tab name may change to reflect that) . This is INFO tab.
The "Updates" tab is showing all software installed/portable being detected as outdated, with ability (or not, if community) to in-app update. This is the ACTION tab.

Well, as you can see, it's a table and not a tree in QuickInstaller. So I'm afraid not.
Also, please keep in mind the "Outdated" action items will and shall remain in the "Updates" tab. "Installed" is just here to display all items and search for some.
