    OK, it turns out that Fanboy list needed to be updated (again). When I returned to this page, that sweepstakes ad was replaced by another saying to install Edge (using Firefox here). What's more, now you could select that space and zap it. So something was prob. a little "off" on here, because I consider that list to be crucial for most every-day ad blocking.

    OK, tiny ad issue def. resolved. Thanks! :)

Edge store is ridiculous, go chrome store without hesitation, the world is yours!

    Yep, the sweepstakes one is back again in Edge. The nag is back in Firefox. Don't know what to make of this. Can't zap it either.

    Then ask at:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/uBlockOrigin/

    Or avoid the Edge store altogether and use Chrome Web Store.

    no nag here in firefox, ublock turned off. and firefox blocks nothing.
    could be:
    Code:
    css
    #root > #banner{display: none;}

    ubo
    microsoftedge.microsoft.com###root > #banner
    for the records - the dropdown arrows (upper right) looks not right

    looks better (for me). With which font did you replaced? maybe there exist a more particular solution to satisfy your web reading? may browser zoom help you out some more if font is to small for you? 110%? 120%?

    not to bother you.

    My preferred font is Noto Sans. Reads pleasantly for me and can display virtually any possible character.

    My system (Linux Mint) already provides these by default.

    I configured my browser to always use that font and unchecked "allow pages to choose their own fonts".

    Browser zoom is indeed sometimes needed.

    Noto Sans looks is very close to the most used font in the web: Arial

    Look yourself
    http://www.identifont.com/find?similar=Arial&q=Go
    http://www.identifont.com/similar?37ZH

    And you should enable the option below, it really makes sense where unicode token are used, you will never see them instead a wrong token. That's what i meant about the cited text. If you want to replace fonts then you are best advised to use a usercontent.css (firefox) or Stylus (extension, all browsers). forums are full when option is disabled with "website looks false, why wth§$%& - stupid firefox" "dont bother and enable option"
    And that's the result of your wrong font(s). pages could not render text with the ideal font format, and thus it looks wrong. zoom do not resolve the cause, it only helps out.

    if you need zoom then use zoom as you cant read it. but - there exist rare cases where pages were rendered wrong, overlapping text and other nifties -that's a matter of webpage, not browser.

    if you need a text-only zoom: *{font-size: 1.2em !important}
    em is a factor, not a fixed size like px! be careful about value.

    We're getting completely offtopic here, but:

    I'm not experiencing any significant issues on 99% of the pages I visit. There's nothing "wrong" with my default font and in the rare case something doesn't render well, then I can easily switch the sites own fonts on.
    That's exactly the reason why I use Noto Sans (together with Noto Color Emoji), because it covers most Unicode characters. :)

    Because 99 per cent uses Helvetica, Arial and similar as a default font. webfonts are needed when pages use buttons which are not given by images than font token. just enable it and your experience wont show a significant change, promised.

    Non free fonts like Helvetica, as well as Arial and other Microsoft fonts are not present by default on a Linux system (patent encumbered...), so Firefox then falls back to another free font.
    A web font like FontAwesome for buttons is displayed here, because I installed it.
    Somehow FontAwesome is fetched anyway on this particular page, even after I downloaded the .woff2 file, converted it to .ttf and installed it... :(

    A lot of other web fonts also don't need to be fetched, because the extension LocalCDN has them cached locally.

    really? not? which are the default similar fonts to those?
    I have a "fontaewsome-webfont.ttf" from 2015 installed, some of my chromium extensions use it internally.

    DL https://filehorst.de/d/dopEjwxl

    And as mentioned, you can replace any font on any page with your own. If Linux dont own Helv/Arial, it surely has a replacement for it. Windows uses a replacement table in registry, Helvetica eg. is replaced with Arial. (mozilla fixed a bug in 89.0.1 concerning this, Win/Linux/OSX)

    I think Liberation fonts comes close.
    Thanks, but this one isn't used either, when I disable external fonts with uBO...
    (b.t.w, here are the newest:
    https://github.com/FortAwesome/Font-Awesome/tree/master/webfonts)

    Wilderssecurity uses this style sheet:
    Code:
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/styles/flatawesome/font-awesome/css/font-awesome.min.css
    I'm not clever enough to replace it with something of my own, haha.

    [Edit]
    Font-Awesome is not used when applying the XenForo Standard style here.

    ofc NONE webfont or linked font is used if you disable it in firefox or ublock. i thought this was clear to you.

    to give you an example as you gave me the css file
    Code:
    content:"\f23a"
    This is a unicode token and probably not present in your used fonts, but in fontawesome.

    The tags where FA is used start all with ".fa-"

    possible if the font is not used. i need to investigate, but to notice that this XF code is still on build 2019 while the others i know are on 2020/2021 which is really different.

    I use the older style here and no fontawesome, and no others to load. (firefox network analysis)

    for the old style is used:
    body: arial,helvetica,clean,sans-serif
    which override: body: Trebuchet MS',Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif
    which override: body: verdana,geneva,lucida,'lucida grande',arial,helvetica,sans-serif

    .messagetext: verdana,sans-serif
    which override: Georgia,"Times New Roman",Times,serif

    No verdana makes messages (thread content) rendered in gerorgia here (then Times, both are similar)

    so if you want to use your own font you need to create code like this:
    Code:
    .messageText{
        font-family: "Noto Sans" !important;
        /*font-size: 10pt !important;*/
    }
    (font-size optional)

    for this editor code is given:
    html{font-family: verdana,sans-serif;}

    html is on top of everything, and then refined

    so if you want to set another font, this one works:
    Code:
    body[contenteditable="true"]
    {
        font-family: Noto Sans;
    }

    (i have installed around 950 fonts where 125 are original Windows 10)

    The problem behind code is recognize the tags and try it out. body[contenteditable="true"] eg is beyond html and refine my font choice.

    html {font-family: Noto Sans !important;} do not work here because it is overwritten with another font-family !important;

    "!important"
    force overwriting existing code and its recommended not to use it that much.

    not much science but only some basics to evaluate, and some experience.

    What i have learned theses days, i do not use this css myself.
    https://www.w3schools.com/css/css_attribute_selectors.asp
    It is possible to format classes or id with a wildcard:
    Code:
    [class|=fa] {font-family:'FontAwesome' !important;}
    i am just testing various css here with the old style, and i have to set the right tags which i want to show another font. This is because of the misplaced !important code.

    there, old style is "vB 3.x - Fluid" - hmm, cannot change right now.

    Ok, change done, xenfor dont use ut, but as you can see in path "flat_awesome" it is used in that forum style. the next code is the speaker bubble in front of name of subforum:
    Code:
    .fa-comments::before {
        content: "\f086";
    }
    In case you disable webfonts you never would see it. and its not only a bubble, it shows about new content. an empty bubble means nothing new, a filled bubble means new content. or opening the tree view is such kind of unicode token. you only would see something like this
    [fo
    3d]
    or missing text, example
    https://stackoverflow.com/questions...th-missing-characters-in-chrome-on-windows-xp

    and this indicates missing webfonts

    Does the AdGuard Tracking Protection Filter have the new AdGuard URL Tracking Filter that the AdGuard extension has now. I have the Adguard extension but had it turned off. After reading about the new URL Tracking filter in the AdGuard June email, i turned it on and noticed how much faster pages load now.
