Same here on my laptop. Only my desktop got "upgraded" to Avira Security. The main difference is my laptop is still running Windows 10 Pro 1909, and the desktop is Windows 10 Pro 2004. Both use the same account on Avira, as Avira Pro.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled and it still updates to this garbage that scans without permission and pops up vpn and smartscan without permission and no way to disable. I was on avira forum and all there are are complaints and threats to find other av, Avira was also sold recently so this is the result, a garbage AIO that will cause a lot of harm to clueless users. What is a good alternative to Avira, I have been using it for many years because the others had too much garbage like this, so need a configurable replacement asap...?
For paid Norton Security, Eset internet security ... free MS Defender , Bitdefender free , Sophos home...
Seriously, are companies like Avira trying to ruin themselves? Win Defender is now already as good as most other free AV's, so why would would you want to annoy your loyal customers.
Microsoft Defender might be a good option depending on the OS. On Windows 7, it might be better to use something else
KSC free. That's the best you can get without dropping any change. It's not terribly talkative either.
Maybe this will help: https://www.reddit.com/r/avira/comments/ggc8ao/just_found_a_way_to_install_only_avira_antivirus/
A decade ago AVIRA was an AV to consider. Nowadays it's a peace of bloated junk, and causes frequent issues, with windows updates. On daily base I uninstall AVIRA on all customer machines, that come in for service. On WIN 10 machines WD, with PUP enable, is superior. WD, with high settings of ConfigureDefenderMaster, is even more powerful, than most third party. Not sure, but KAV might be better.
Nope. = I uninstalled and re-installed Avira Antivirus Pro and it only stayed that way for about an hour before it auto updated to the new Avira Security UI again.
Well I tried again uninstalling and reinstalling Avira Antivirus Pro, and this time it has remained as its good old self for several days. No Avira Security upgrade yet this time. Maybe Avira botched the new Security rollout previously and sent it to us Pro users in error?

Maybe so, but I never received the Security "upgrade" on my laptop which was connected to the same Avira Pro account.

Hi Any Infos about the reputations scan available and some links or screenshots With best Regards Mops21
After 5 years of being a paying subscriber to Avira Pro, the new forced upgrade to Avira Security is driving me away. This new Avira is like a trojan, that installs many other programs that you did not request, and it does not ask for approval. For example, extras like: System Speedup, Software Updater, Phantom VPN, Driver Updater, etc. Many of these extra items also install their own services that were not there before. There is also no uninstall entry for them in Windows Programs and Features. Any attempt to tamper with the installation results in Avira automatically "fixing" them for you. Ugh! I just want an antivirus, not a security suite, and Avira will no longer permit that! Here is a response to a recent negative review online from Avira:

Yep, Avira have lost their way as far as I can see. They are biting the hands that fed them! The best solution that I could find in the Avira FAQ was how to completely uninstall Avira. That is what I have done! Even with 6 months remaining on my Pro subscription... In fact, Windows Defender kicked into action immediately, so I am not without current protection.
