Same software as you (Windows version 1903 build: 18362.295, HmP.Alert 3.7.10.785, Sandboxie: 5.31.2) but no problems here.

It looks like another HMPA Update today.

So I've been looking at some test videos of HMP.Alert and the cryptogaurd feature doesn't consistently work.

Maybe it's time to advertise it as exactly what it is, an anti-exploit program with an on-demand malware scanner. Because the protection it offers against malware that ISN'T loaded from an exploit is more or less non-existent.

    Just saying.

Windows 10 Pro 1809, running Bitdefender, Firefox doesn't open getting error 0000000x5 unless exploit mitigation is turned off after upgrading to 3.7.10 Build 785

Want to update my earlier report to include the Opera Browser as well... Just discovered that it also generates the same error as Firefox at launch attempt...

I have been using HMP.Alert for several years, and in my opinion that is exactly what it is meant to be. I like having a signature-less, real-time, anti-exploit program to layer with my other security defenses.

It seems that the current Hitman website was redesigned by Sophos after the acquisition from SurfRight, and currently fails to adequately explain how the program works. Those little details are scattered across the 622 pages of this thread, and the release history. https://www.hitmanpro.com/en-us/whatsnewalert.aspx

Well it clearly says "Protects local and shared files against crypto-ransomware like CryptoLocker" in the Cryptoguard entry under risk reduction. But it every test I've seen of it, it fails to protect the system from AND the files from ransomware.

And on their homepage it says above the download link to get HMP.Alert "Stay Protected with HitmanPro.Alert" which implies that it's more than just an anti-exploit program to be run along side a proper standalone.

Well without links to the actual tests, this just appears to be another random opinion posted on the internet... ;)

Granted these two tests are from awhile ago.

Here's a slightly less professional test that's much more recent.

I feel like I should edit this in. HMP.Alert! is an anti-exploit program with an on-demand malware scanner, not much else. To deal with malware that's NOT loaded from an exploit, you should use a proper Antimalware or internet security suite.

HMP.Alert! is currently blocking an important DLL that's part of Steam, the gaming platform. Causing it to not start. New version of Steam came out today.

When I tried to upgrade to 787 via reboot I got a consistent app crash: Explorer, with faulty module wruser.dll and ended up having to do a system restore, despite trying to otherwise resolve it. I haven't got 787 installed now, and don't know if it's a WSA or HMPA issue, but there may still be some incompatibility?

785 does not update to 787 on my machine, like all other builds fail to update (Known issue? My TEMP/TMP folder is on a RAM drive).

However, a manual update fails as well: "Failed to install program. Error 203".

Hello RonnyT, thanks I'm running W7Pro x64, and WSA v9.0.26.61 without any other security software. I forgot also to mention that it was happening just after entering pw during startup. If you'd like any other info let me know.

New build of HMP Alert is still blocking a DLL that's a part of Steam. "Steamui(dot)dll"

Updated successfully but still no green fly-out on my machine running Norton.

Edit: Uninstalled Norton on one machine and the green fly-out is back.

If i set HMPA setting action mode to silent audit would it leave WSA alone after boot so i can start my computer up.

I'm also running 3.8 and I think we're just curious about development, for instance is it going to become the "release" build at some point, or continue as experimental?
