There is no, one way, that we stop outbound connections. We use 12 different layers which is described on a recent blog "Multilayered Security". We can stop system level personal data collection using the "system" options in BlackFog. It's actually pretty amazing how much flows out of the OS in its default state, so we recommend you enable these settings to prevent it.

In terms of compatibility, we strive to be compatible with all AV solutions, but some, such as AVG, will require whitelisting, as they cannot keep up with our release cycle. This is precisely why the fingerprinting model is just not viable. We recommend MS Security Essentials by default. It is free and works, as well, and often better, than the commercial stuff out there. A few years ago this was not the case, but it has come a long way... Otherwise any of the other AV's are fine if you have a preference. Many of the users on this forum may have good recommendations.

LoneWolf we are readying the release right now and are trying to get it out in the next week. You will see we have already posted screen shots on the Product page for mobile devices here.

Darren, I know it is not a priority but I'd like to bump two previous requests for the Windows version, previously mentioned in this thread:
    1. Taskbar persistence is still poor.
    2. More install mode options.

Is it normal for the rules to not update since February 22nd? I thought they updated, like every four hours or something.

Hmm ... my rules (as per BFP panel bottom right) are also Feb 21, 2019! Also Help>Update doesn't do anything?

My initial (Enterprise giveaway) license was set to expire on Feb 23, but I did but another year desktop license ... if that is relevant.

I'm looking forward to version 4.0 to get more logs from advertising and profiling

I will still have a request to make

Is it planned to allow the forensic timing to be adjusted every 8 hours or once a day
because during a game session this is too fair and stops the easy anti-cheat process and disconnects parts if you forget the 4-hour cycle.

The Help Update actually is more silent now in Enterprise mode, so that is normal. Good input. Acid King for the forensic. We have been wondering if anyone would ask about that timing. So I will pass this along to the dev team.

While the official release is tomorrow we are providing Wilders members with early access. Here is the download page which now has the live link to the Android edition. We will not be releasing it initially on the Google Play store because of the rules that prevent us from having Ad Blocking in the app. We may release a LITE edition at a later stage with this piece removed at a lower cost like the iOS edition.

For now please got to https://www.blackfog.com/download/ and click Android to download it to your device. You need to ensure that you allow downloads as mentioned on this page or it won't let you install it.

And yes you can purchase on our web site. The license works across all platforms.

    Hi @Darren Williams

Just downloaded and installed the android version

I can only see the Update Rules.

Can I know how the rules and version of the app is updated ie. manually or automatically? Will the app makes a prompt when a new version or rules are available?

Since BFG is using a local VPN can suggest to add a firewall as well which can handle both the default and installed apps

    Thanks

Everything is automatic NiteRanger. The option to update manually is just an option for testing, otherwise it updates every 24 hours. Remember, BlackFog will work across the entire system on Android, so it can filter all traffic on the device, but only runs locally "On-Device". No data is sent to BlackFog.

Krusty, PM me and we can help you out.

You have to be very careful on some of those, because they have other implications on usability for other applications, a good example is Google maps will often fail if you don't do it exactly right. I will pass your comments along to our team for review though as they are constantly curating the rules we have developed.

We have also tended to allow crash reporting as shown above as they are not really ads, or collecting personal data, but rather information for developers to make their products better which we like to encourage, with the caveat that they dont collect personal data.

    Hi

But they are automatically blocked by Blokada. Like you mentioned nobody is sure crash reports are collecting your personal data. So, on the safe side, these should be blocked by default unless the user explicitly allows the use of crash reporting.

FYI, as a privacy-conscious user, I tried to disable as many Google services as possible without jeopardizing the functionality of the phone. All my installed apps are taken from Non-Google Play Stores

We will investigate these for you NiteRanger. Hopefully they make it into the next rules update which will come out later today.
