I've read on other forums that Sophos just released a new beta version of SHP. It seems like they finally added the quarantine that everyone has been asking them for. They seem to have added other features like "machine learning" which I am assuming is their deep learning technology that is part of intercept X. May have to check it out.

Just renewed my current security for another year. Maybe SHP will be out of beta by then, so I can give it a shot, LOL! :argh:

I installed it. Wow! Between all of the components it uses up 450mb memory! A little heavy, although I don't really notice a slowdown overall.

Memory usage only matters if your computer doesn't have much memory installed. If you have adequate RAM, then slowdowns are caused by excessive CPU or disk usage not by the anount of RAM used. Sometimes using more RAM leads to better performance.

I have an account but I guess the beta is accessible to paid users only?

The beta is accessible to beta testers.
"Last year, you were one of over 60K beta testers of our original Sophos Home Premium. This year, we’re limiting our beta to 10K users and hope you’ll sign up quickly to secure a spot."

i wonder if they disabled actual sigs and only the new ML is working or Sophos is really bad at sigs, but today's 4/14 static result is atrocious.

Actually they have released a beta for their next major release (2.0) and they have finally added this feature to it. As of right now they only have the beta open to 10000 people, so if you've tried SHP in the past you can see if you can join the beta. If not, hopefully they will either welcome more people to participate in the beta, or release the new version. So all in all the quarantine is coming:thumb:

you gotta go to each individual file on the web panel and click on restore.
still not user friendly at all, but at least it exists.
Beta's performance been really underwhelming, the new ML engine is not enough alone, not sure why they disabled the sigs.

    Hi,

    Just installed Sophos Home Premium.

if anyone using it, share your review and experience.

The dashboard has very few options but seems to be good.

just little heavier on the system, I hope, after a few scan or days, might be OK??

    Thanks

Boot time had a definite impact compared to other programs, but as long as you're on a relatively modern-ish system, it doesn't necessarily interfere with your day-to-day tasks. After the initial scan, I felt that things had calmed down - a bit snappier. I enjoyed the spartan interface to an extent, although my inner tinkerer was saddened. I know a handful of people would pull up task manager, gasp at the amount of RAM being used, and then subsequently uninstall it. The system resources used versus what the program does put it in my good graces on the whole. Sophos does adequately well with various tests, and I have hope that it will continue to improve in the future. That was my experience using it for about three months until I changed it out. What Sophos does, it does it fairly well.

Hi, there are 18 programs running in task manager from Sophos, but still, speed is good.

booting is slightly slow, but once it is up, things are running smoothly.

Yet, it has very fewer options but seems to be promising.

Going to keep it for a few more months.

    Thanks for sharing your feedback.

As of version 2 Sophos Home/Premium has a quarantine and you can restore files from the web interface.

Would like to trial it first. When does this discount expire?
