You may run another scan from main UI to get other options for excluding that item.

Panda forcefully installs its web extensions without asking to every browser it supports, hence AVs started flagging it as PUP. the detection is real, not an FP, just not as harmful as you may think.

Your right there is unwanted adware in the installer. And yes you can override if you want by adding the installer to the Allow list before trying to install once again. https://docs.webroot.com/us/en/home/wsa_pc_userguide/wsa_pc_userguide.htm#ManagingQuarantine/BlockingOrAllowingFiles.htm?TocPath=Managing%20Quarantine|_____2 or shut down WSA and install Panda then restart WSA.

I don't want new stuff just for the sake of it. Prevx, and then Webroot after it acquired Prevx's technology, has kept my ***** safe since 2006. The contrast between what I experienced pre-2006 with reputable AV names, and my experience since then, is like night and day. No exaggeration.

The day Webroot starts "putting in new stuff" for the sake of it is the day I'll start worrying.

if webroot kept you safe all this time, you really didn't need it. let's just put it that way

Well, evidently not so when I changed to Prevx. And judging from the times I've seen Webroot save my bacon, it would be, to say the very least, inadvisable for me to uninstall my AV. Daft comment—imho of course!

Very much agree with you Muddy3. Have had very much the same experience and also very much value the Webroot Development Team approach of 'eschew the bloatware or unimportant features/focus on making what is there as effective as possible'.

IMHO that is the right way to go...features for features sake is downright stupid.

No idea how script protection and anti-exploit could be considered bloatware.

You mis-construe...I was referring to & agreeing with Muddy3's post, and the fact that Webroot does not seem to release new features very often. My point is that they do not do that because they focus on making sure that the core is as strong as it can be...and leave the bells & whistles to other to do/waste their time on. ;)

They also accept that many want multiple layer protection and that it is better to be the master of some rather than the jack of all trades.

    Just saying.

I downloaded their 14-day trial. They sent me an email with a key code, but it doesn't work (yes, I did cut&paste). Is this a frequent occurence or was I just unlucky?

I'm sure that has happened to me too. But, it's a been some time and I can't remember if and how I was able to fix it.

Thanks Roger. I checked their support FAQ relative to this issue. There are several separate entries so I guess this is not a totally rare occurence. Too bad...

I got a question. I see Webroot is going to be a Amazon prime deal starting at 8 pm and was thinking of getting it. I used Prevx back in the day, but I have Emisoft anti-malware right now. I'm not asking for a comparison in how good they are but I would like to know if by going with Webroot, is there anything emisoft has that Webroot doesn't provide or would I be OK in swichting?

The thing with questions like this is everyone will have different opinions so I would say run WSA along side emisoft and check it out. I use WSA with VoodooShield and Glasswire.

    Emsisoft:
    - local Dual AV engine (Emsisoft + Bit Defender)
    - strong Behavior Blocker
    - set and forget.
    - Hosts-based surf protection (block suspicious/malicious sites) that can accept your own list.
    - less features than Webroot.

    Webroot
    -
full cloud AV (but with a limited local signature database, in case you go offline).
    - more settings/options and features/utilities (Identity protection, rollbacking, etc...) than Emsisoft.
    - Active Web filter, but unlike Emsisoft, you depend of the webroot database.

Both are quite light on the system (better than Windows Defender anyway), the only thing i dont like in Webroot is its constant journaling; if you use many "unknown" programs, it keeps consuming space by writing on the drive (which isn't good for a SSD, i saw it writing 1.5gb of data in less than 2 minutes.); thing that may be solved if you submit the programs; but for a beta tester it is quite annoying.

So basically, it depend of your taste, the best way is to trial them.

I've experienced this a few times before, I think there's a delay in their systems. When I entered the keycode just after receiving the email, it didn't work, but when I tried again later it was successful.

not saying that with Emsisoft and Webroot, you can scan file only on execution only, which WD is unable to do.

Thanks for the feedback. I went ahead and got the deal and will try both and see how they do. I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be exposing anything by trying Webroot.
