Is anyone else receiving many alerts from their firewall when cleaning with this new build? My firewall is logging many outbound connections.
Recent CCleaner post on forum for this build.. https://forum.piriform.com/topic/51...ookies-for-avast/?tab=comments#comment-293772
I get the outbound connections too, I'm sticking to 5.40 for now, I also hate how they put a bunch of avast cookies secretly into your CookiesToSave settings each time. This is definitely the start for me of "the downfall" since Avast took over.
I have blocked all outgoing connections and am happy to remain with v5.35. IMHO Ccleaner are always updating partly because it means there will be all the extra opportunities for users to download the attached Avast products.
Wow, just wow. And that official reply, that is sick. "We ignore user's settings, because we know better." Avast has sank to the same level as iobit. CCleaner is just an advertising tool now. OK, I have removed CCleaner, this was the last straw. Replaced by Wise Disk Cleaner and Cookie AutoDelete, the extension is far from being perfect, but it will have to do, for now.
You would think after the big show back in September, Piriform/Avast would be diligently clean in all areas and aboveboard, not responding after the fact and continuing to bundle unwanted jazz in the d/l. Telemetry cookies, this is what people are trusting to use CCleaner for--to get RID of them.
For me, the portable version just hangs cleaning IE temporary files. Going back to the previous version.
Adding extra cookies and setting to keep them? That audacious response, "We ignore you because we know better."? Excessive internet connectivity during cleaning operations? Don't want. Don't like. I'll stick with the older versions before this Avast nonsense. --- I think it was 5.40, the last known good version. Though I have not checked how much it hammers the firewall. You know, you can make older versions still relevant if you have the mindset to edit and work with the Winapp2.ini file. It's rather disappointing that what was once a premier program has started a downward trend. If I understand it right, if you delete the cookies, the new "integrated content delivery system" goes into overdrive and does MORE messaging and connection usage..??
