The question seems to be whether that issue is indeed fixed.

    Previous post :
Now look at that Piriform thread https://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=48688
read reply # 12 and 13 posted today.
    Was it really fixed?

Their testing seems suspect lately, especially with recent major changes to Firefox. Seems like @Brummelchen is right, leave FF cleaning to FF itself, Options>Privacy>History.

I have heard of one or two other installs where Avast was offered.

May be a selective thing I guess.

Portable one does not offer anything so far.

Not new. In the past it has occasionally tried to install Chrome.

I think everyone knows that Robin, but Avast being offered instead of Chrome will be because of the Avast buyout of Piriform (CCleaner)

Many thanks, pegas, used this link to update it and it didn't offer to install anything else. When I'd launched the previous version, a box said a newer version was available but when I clicked "yes," it took me to the page where you buy the Pro--at a discount. :cautious: Free is good enough for casual use, right?

    Definitely, free is enough. ;-)

Actually it did. The initial file I downloaded from Piriform was cc_setup534.exe. As well as Avast being installed (caught me by surprise), a trial Ccleaner Pro was offerred. Later I downloaded ccsetup534.exe, again from Piriform, and none of the above were offerred. I suspect a sign of things to come.

In some cases the full installer might install/offer additional software.
Usually the filesize is bigger than the slim version and after extracting of the installer:
    CCleaner.png
...toolbar-related things (Google Toolbar, "PF-Toolbar-2016.exe") or similar unwanted stuff are located in the $PLUGINSDIR directory.
And some more files, but they are not needed for the installed application itself.
The files are only there to provide a better "install-experience" ;) (installing of toolbars, Avast/Google browser, and other unwanted things,...)

The slim version doesn't have the "$_<number>_"-directories and the size of the "$PLUGINSDIR" is usually 80-100 kb (not 3 MB)
There is a reason, why the slim version (=bundled without PUP) is delayed by a whole week (or even more).

Weird--avast! antivirus in this context is a potentially unwanted program.

Wonder if bundling avast! like it was a toolbar would be detrimental to its image. No experience with it but it has a great reputation, right?

Did you already have a third party antivirus installed when the CCleaner installer offered Avast?

CCleaner is going down the drain (hope i am not being to vulgar).
Uninstalled, always trying to phone home. Good bye CC.

No... it seems to be offered if running WD, but wasn't offered on a PC using Bitdefender.

Imagine CCleaner / Avast uninstalling someone's paid subscription and installing Avast, and let's face it, not everyone belongs to forums like Wilders'. Would that be cause for a class action?

    Edit: @hawki ?

Thanks for the reply; at least they designed the installer to check for AV before offering Avast to avoid conflict.

Download from Softpedia*, they offer the 'lite' version installer which comes with no added unwanted extras.
*Other dl sites may also offer the lite version.

5.34 exist no "lite" - there never was a "lite" - only "slim" - but not this time:
    https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds
whatever you loaded i wont count on it
    Code:
    CCleaner 5.34.6207 / 5.33.6162 Slim
    CCleaner Portable
    CCleaner Portable 5.34.6207
