That 'hacked by' name has changed several times over the past weeks. I think it's script kiddies trying to show off.

Too bad, it's just more insult to injury for this product.

The developers did a good job of that.

    Hello,

I started using this product with V2......703 Build. It is the first stable build with full support on Win 10 & was released in Jan 2016. Its been more than a year, no new build after that & product/company seems abandoned.

Build 703........I have used on Win 10 64 right from the first stable release of Win 10 up-to now i.e Anniversary build fully updated. Never had probs, no probs with minor/major Windows updates/upgrades, etc...

In my year long usage of FB, 1 time had prob with HOT restore & 1 time had prob with WARM restore i.e restore stuck in the middle, I did hard shutdown & performed COLD restore & no probs. COLD restore was always successful here.

Sometimes HOT restore, after system restart, when DOS like windows appear, you may get error (rarely) & system will restart normally, dont worry, just try HOT restore again & will work fine. If the same prob then try WARM or COLD restore, as mentioned above COLD restore is full restore & always successful here.

    I have 2 partitions C & D.
    C = 50/100 GB full, I keep FB backups on D partition

FB full backup takes app 30-35 mins here.
Incremental backup takes app 1-3 mins here.

HOT restore takes app 5-10 mins here (mostly app 5 mins)
WARM restore takes app 10-15 mins here.
COLD restore takes app 30 mins or so.

I would suggest to use build 703, its a stable build with many fixes/changes compared to previous beta build.

I would say FB V2 build 703 have worked good here.

If backup/restore is your need i.e clone, etc not needed then I would suggest to try Veeam Endpoint Backup too. Backup/Restore/BareMetal, etc, Full/Incremental/StandaloneFull, etc. I find it robust/reliable backup. Backup/Restore speed is good, etc.
I have shared my experience here -
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/veeam-endpoint-backup-free.377485/page-2

    Thank You

I guess it depends on your needs and standards. I need and depend on my images, so for me one failure of a restore, and I will no longer use it. Users should read this thread. Flashback has a history of questionable reliablity and now there is no support. They are gone. If you truly depend on your backups this isn't a good choice.

As to Veeam being free no support. With some of the other products here, users can support you if not the vendor. Yash has had a good experience, I didn't. Just beware.

I agree, FB is abandoned now And Win 10 updates are kinda often with changes/improvements So chances of compatibility/support issues are there, given that no updates/fixes are there now with FB. Atleast yet it worked fine for me...

As to Veeam, I must say, I am impressed, I find it robust/reliable backup software. I tried/tested it in my own little way. I read its user guide, how it take care of backups, backups integrity, etc... User guide is good. I would say, give a try & see...

    Hi Yash

I did, and it didn't go well. I think their drive stuff was a problem, and it still just makes no sense at all to me. Yes some of the drivers are needed for the RE, but put them back in on a restore, is just well dumb

That's not really what the Veeam Recovery media is designed to do. It offers the "Inject Drivers" option if you wish to add drivers to the restored image. If the "Inject Drivers" option is disabled (I think it is by DEAFULT), then you wind up with whatever was included in the restored image... the drivers that were on the System when it was imaged. This is a normal restoration and should work just fine.

The primary purpose of the "Inject Drivers" option is if you're restoring an image to a dissimilar hardware configuration and you need some special drivers (other than what the OS Discovery process will provide) to insure that the restored image will work somewhat properly.

I wonder how it works out. One of the things Nate B ex of Storagecraft had me test a low was restore to dissimilar hardware. He repeatedly stated that the only purpose was to get the target system to boot, and then goto work on things like drivers. I remember asking him about just the point you made. All he said was to dangerous.

I thing Veeam would be excellent in the enterprise which is what it is designed for. But for the average users, no.

"Inject Drivers" option is enabled by default.

I did restore with "Inject Drivers" disabled And restore was fine (I decided to try restore with "Inject Drivers" disabled after talking to TRF in PM)

When you disable "Inject Drivers", summary of restore operation mention "Inject Drivers" disabled...restored system will have drivers in the image or default drivers.
When you go with default i.e "Inject Drivers" enabled, summary of restore operation mention "Inject Drivers" enabled...if after restore system is not bootable, restore with "Inject Drivers" disabled.

"Inject Drivers" is the only confusion with Veeam, rest is simple & easy.
I too was little confused & finally talked with TRF in PM & decided to disable "Inject Drivers".

I think "Inject Drivers" disabled is the way to go...

I may try restore with "Inject Drivers" enabled And if & when I try, will share the experience here...

Peter, I know your experience with Veeam as before trying Veeam, I checked Veeam forums, Veeam threads here, MalwareTips & other places in the internet.
Other than "Inject Drivers" thingy, overall you found it good.

My experience with Macrium too was kinda not good i.e my first restore with Macrium gave me chkdsk error (invalid bitmap or something), my first restore with EaseUS Todo gave me corrupted Chrome settings...it happens sometimes with such products...

Now that we know on "Inject Drivers" thingy, I think if you give a try, you will be impressed...
It installs little 3 sql stuffs i.e you can see in add/remove programs
    System & Veeam run light
And you will find it robust/reliable...

Do you have a link to an installer. I get tied up with them wanting me to sign in. Then I can't remember the password, but it won't let me create a new password. That is just so much BS, it becomes not worth the bother.

Try this one (from the German computer magazine Chip):

    http://dl.cdn.chip.de/downloads/32393974/VeeamEndpointBackup_1.5.0.306.zip?cid=78243513&platform=chip&1487165039-1487172539-ed886d-B-7317db372d306438c5d2e24b33ac7c1f

You can also google for Veeam and select the link from chip.de. Don't use their installer, select "Manuelle Installation" instead.

    Cheers

    Hi Manolito

Yash sent it to me, I've downloaded and tested and it just isn't for me.

    But thanks so much.

It's a completely different type of System requiring much space and one assorted image to the side to bring back original System configurations.

There are others in the Forum who can better answer this than I... it just wasn't for me when I played with it.

AX64 is an imaging System, Instant Rescue IS NOT... you still need to image that System to protect yourself against disk failure. Instant Rescue is a lot like a single snapshot version of Rollback RX (totally different technology and much safer)... I think HDS calls their version "ReBOOT Restore."

The required System "rescue" area located on your primary Windows volume needs to be the same size as the partition you're trying to protect... and with the DATA Anchoring activated in Instant Rescue, if you get hit by RansomeWare on the primary System, your Instant Rescued version will have all that encrypted DATA on it as well. It does have some serious limitations but works well to back out of problemsome driver updates, MicroSloth updates and just plain no BOOT conditions.

I know I seem like a fanboi at times when it comes to Macrium Reflect, but I have found it to be the fastest "instant system restore" imager currently available. With its RDR (Rapid Data Restore) feature, it can return to recent previous System states very quickly, and as an imager, it can be run in a set'n'forget mode... easy for the user once it gets going.

Sure, it's $69.95 currently, but it does an extremely adequate job of providing reasonable "snapshot" capability as well as an excellent imaging solution. I mention this because Macrium is about to release v7 of Reflect circa 26Feb... and most of the time there are "sales" on new software releases.

    Back to AX64 :shifty:...

This is one those programs that you invested in, but is a total loss.
    Have to eat my loss.
This was a total failure. Sad.
Paid twice for 2 and 3.

That's why if I would use that software, I'd go for Raxco Instant Recovery, since you can Export+Import the backups to/from external drives, and then restore them back. eg on a fresh windows install for the old system, incase of an virus/ransomware attack..
And the snapshots on Instant Recovery are bootable, and no limitations on the snapshots, like with Rescue..
