Hi FanJ. No, I didn't see or notice it. I rebuilt 7 from scratch recently with my SP1 ISO, then I installed all of the update rollups thru August. Then today, I turned on Win Updates, and let it update everything else that was missing. Everything went fantastically good, and no problems. I just installed the July Rollup manually, and haven't seen it coming thru again. My understanding is that in October, we will start seeing Rollups coming thru Win Updates.

Edit: Sorry, just to make sure, I checked my update history, and yes, you are correct, it did come thru again. I installed it with no issues.

Thank you Kerodo for confirming! Yes, checking the update history was what I did too after I noticed that it was offered.
Thanks again for checking and confirming!!

    Thanks Krusty :)

I just used a fix from Softpedia that I suspect is a simplified version for dummies of Mr X's solution . It was succesful using Msft Edge.

FIX FOR STUCK Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64 (or x86)-based Systems (KB3189866).

    http://news.softpedia.com/news/how-...9866-getting-stuck-at-95-percent-508281.shtml

For anyone using the Softpedia link, do not panic if it appears it is not installing. It takes several minutes for the progress bar to move.

Incidently, I think Msft may have pulled it from their normal update process. My download had stuck at 95% (Softpedia says that most having issues had their downloads stuck at 48% or 95%). I rebooted and tried to download again and got absolute zero downloaded through Windows Update. 0% is less than 95% :)

My K3189866 also stuck at 48% overnight. It seems the error code is 0x8024a105 which has happened before.
Not sure whether to use the Softpedia method, or just leave it in case MS have discovered other problems with it.

Yes, others with Windows 7, including myself, also got the KB3172605 July Rollup offered again.
I installed it on my Windows 7 systems again, with no issues.

While it may seem that this is a stupid condition one needs to realize that IE is much more widespread among users than Edge. As for non-Microsoft browsers, I have no doubt they (MS) have own reasons to don't allow to use other browsers for MUC.

The Softpedia solution works with Edge.

The download also works with FireFox and uses the Standalone Msft Updater to install the update. Edge downlods to the standard Windows Updater Cache.

I did not install using FF because the installation stalled early. But this also happens using Edge. It takes several minutes for the Edge install method to show movement of the install progress bar. Thus, the FF method may have ultimately worked, but I may have been too impatient to give it a chance. I also feared it would mess up my system.

If you have Edge there is no good reason not to use the Softpedia method as it appears to be the simplest solution for Win 1067 OS. It downloads directly from the Msft Servers and installs with the Standard Win Updater.

May 17, in the Microsoft TechNet article Simplifying updates for Windows 7 and 8.1, Nathan Mercer wrote:
As summer is almost over, I hope Microsoft is getting that task done, updating the Microsoft Update Catalog website to eliminate the need for the use of the ActiveX control.
I really hope they get that done before from October onwards the new Monthly Rollup model for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 applies, as set out in the August 15 TechNet article Further simplifying servicing models for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
In that article is mentioned that from October 2016 onwards, the Security-only update for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 will not be published to Windows Update, but will be available to download and deploy from WSUS, SCCM, and the Microsoft Update Catalog.
I really hope that by that time Microsoft Update Catalog is updated to eliminate the need for the use of the ActiveX control, so that the option to download Security-only updates for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 from the Microsoft Update Catalog will be available with any browser.

Are you using Logitech Gaming software? I am using a Logitech keyboard, headphones, and mouse (wired) all connected via USB and have never had that issue on Win 8.1, 10, or 1067. Sounds very strange. It's connected to a USB 2 port I assume. Is your mouse driver up to date?

Did you "install" 1067 or update to it?

Checkout the Logitech Mouse Forums maybe.

So far no success with updates this month. I have tried "Checking for Updates" twice and I just get an endless loop that I have cancelled both times after about 30 minutes.

All monthly checks on my Win 7 Pro have previously shown the updates immediately and the actual updates have always gone smoothly.

Thanks for the help. However the updates are there now and I am beginning to think that the problem is related to my erratic internet connection that I have been having recently.

No gaming software or mouse. Just a Logitech MX Anywhere wireless mouse with unifying receiver USB dongle. I can't remember if I WU'd or used MCT to get to AU on that (secondary) laptop, as I have had many attempts on four laptops here.

It started after one of the post-AU cumulative updates (it was OK before this), forget exactly which one but found the solution here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/48zrkb/windows_10_stuck_at_spinning_circle_login_screen/ so it is not a complete unknown.

Checked for updated driver via Device Manager without success (yet).

I am no stranger to this kind of issue btw. On my primary laptop, with a Logitech Bluetooth mouse, Win 10 AU won't shut down (or restart) presumably due to some driver issue, which I haven't been able to locate yet. So I am still on 1511 there. Periodically I go back to my 1607 image to experiment and retest.
