    from my view
closest office to MS Office WITH VBA is Kingsoft WPS (IMO WPS with VBA has to be paid)
closest office to MS Office without VBA is Softmaker

but i have to admit that i changed office when SO 2008 was announced and i had seriously trouble to get it right with openoffice v1. so i stayed with SO (Softmaker Office) and never tried Apache/Libre/Open-Office again. for me positive - SO ever is portable, WPS and -Office never was. i own a WPS (current) license but i cant get it work with the german build, to bad its fixed on english.

LibreOffice Writer works great for my needs. The only thing that makes me think I've made a step backwards. Is LibreOffice doesn't show document contents as an icon. I've found that very useful support, but LibreOffice doesn't seem to offer?!

Last time I checked, this Thread was about Office Suites; not Browsers...

@rm22: Existing macros and macros you plan to write.
Existing user defined functions and functions you want to create.
I just edited post#13 to indicate that VBA is in the paid version. And looked over the web where they confirm the same information for WPS. Here's just one of many you can google out:

I'm still using KSO and continue to be amazed how well my various VBA containing spreadsheets move back and forth between it and Office 2000, 2003 and 2007.

    Thanks for the info

EDIT: Is the lifetime license for 1 version or do you get upgrades?

I have just installed WPS and I am truly impressed. I only pity, I have wasted so much time using LibreOffice. WPS is way faster and contains more features.

I only had to do this to shut it up. :isay:
    Code:
    sc config Kingsoft_WPS_UpdateService start= disabled
    net stop Kingsoft_WPS_UpdateService /y
    rd "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Kingsoft\WPS Office\10.1.0.5674\wtoolex" /s /q
    taskkill /im ktpcntr.exe /f
    del "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Kingsoft\WPS Office\10.1.0.5674\office6\ktpcntr.exe" /s /f /q
    taskkill /im wpscenter.exe /f
    del "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Kingsoft\WPS Office\10.1.0.5674\office6\wpscenter.exe" /s /f /q

Upgraded to LibreOffice 5.2.1.2, that was released recently. My LibreOffice document icons resolves document contents now. :)

For some reason, when I upgraded LibreOffice to 5.1.5 64-bit last week, it would not work. I tried Calc only.
So I uninstalled it and installed the 32-bit version. All good now (on Windows 10 64-bit).

For the record, the licence is valid for a year, if you have activated a previous GOTD, it will not expand it and it will still expire in January 2017.

Yeah, thanks for the supplement. 1-year license is a common feature of obtained applications from GOTD.

hmmm - just had my first issue with WPS - created docx in WPS - sent it to WORD 2007 for editing with track changes - then back to WPS to edit changes... the formatting was a bit of a mess coming back into WPS.

Anyone else have experience sharing files back & forth while editing?
