HitmanPro.ALERT Support and Discussion Thread

Discussion in 'other anti-malware software' started by erikloman, May 25, 2012.

  1. Hi,

I'm having some trouble with a particular software and cyrptoguard, we've had to disable cryptoguard on a bunch of our pc's as the two programs were conflicting to the point that the computer was freezing. Is this the correct place to explain my problem in detail or should i be speaking to someone from HMP directly?

What software? You can ask it here.

  3. Thanks!

We use a special software made by a small company here locally. The software does flight reservation. It will probably be easier to explain the process of what happens.

When a quote is generated in this software:
    1. The software opens MS Word in the background,
    2. It transfers the details of the booking into a word doc
    3. It opens a new email and it attaches that word doc as well and some generic PDF files (terms and conditions etc) to the email
    4. The user then sends that mail to the relevant party.

The problem we're having is that if that action is repeated twice quickly in succession the process for winword.exe freezes completely and so does the software. Winword.exe hangs at 50% of the CPU and refuses to close, the only way to get it to stop is to hard reset the computer. After much troubleshooting, disabling the CryptoGuard portion of hitmanpro.alert stops this issue completely. I think because this program does so much in the background its being picked up by the cryptoguard and stopped by it.

The problem is we cant stop using either of these software, but they've been conflicting for most of august. I am assuming there was some kind of update to CryptoGuard. I need a way to exlcude that software from being monitored by CryptoGuard. The strange thing is there is no pop up from Hitmanpro.

What info can I give to help solve this issue?

    1. Have the advanced interface of HMPA open
    2. click on the blue box and then applications.
3 scroll to exclusions and add your software
    4. See if that prevents the problem with out having to turn off cryptoguard for everything.

I did let you know, but got no reply back. If I get no replies back while you asked to let you know how it runs, then I won't bother posting in this thread anymore.. It's not the first time I noticed this when I report something.. But you seem to have time to reply to other people..

We have seen your post, we haven't ignored it. We are just on summer vacation and myself became a dad a few weeks ago so I am with paternity leave. Nonetheless, there are new builds that improve things in other areas. Compatibility is important for us, but not so much that we do everything we can to solve it immediately. Microsoft also did something unexpected so we had to fix that one first. Also, our CryptoGuard v4 is pretty new so we need some feedback on that too (which we got from the community here, which is much appreciated).
Erik and I are back in the office next week and we're going to see if and what issues we want fixed before the next public release.
Thank you so far for your contribution and hope you keep doing that :thumb:

Thx for the reply and congratulations on becoming a dad!

Regarding the other stuff, its the simple little things that can make a big difference regarding communication, I certainly don't expect a quick solution, but it's nice to know some kind of status update so I know the testing I've done wasn't in vain and if it still makes sense for me to keep testing further. If it ultimately comes down to being unsolvable for example, then I will make peace with that.

From looking at this technology brief on Bitdefender's ATC, it appears that they made the design decision to bolt a behavior blocker onto the end of their malware scanning engine.

Seems we are entering a new world where the old rules about never running two real-time antivirus programs at the same time may also apply to two behavior/anti-exploit programso_O
