Don't you need a IPv6 format address for same DNS resolution?

I know I use IPv6 formatted addresses for VeriSign IPv6 DNS servers I use.

Please note that Adguard DNS currently is in beta testing stage. We need any advise or feedback we can get:)

Could you please elaborate on this?

I guess, it is because IPv6 addresses usually use a different format, I have never seen IPv4 used as IPv6.

    OpenDNS: 2620:0:ccc::2 / 2620:0:ccd::2 or GoogleDNS: 2001:4860:4860::8888 / 2001:4860:4860::8844

Btw, let me tell you more about the future of AG DNS.

iPhone/iPad users may have heard about Adguard for iOS which is great, configurable, completely free and open source:) However, it is just a content blocker and it is able to block ads in Safari only.

We will soon start beta testing of Adguard for iOS "PRO" version. So, the very first version of Adguard Pro will allow you to use Adguard DNS on your device. Therefore, advertising and tracking servers will be blocked system wide.

You will not need to set dns settings manually for each wi-fi network, just turn it on in Adguard Pro app. What's important: Adguard is the only way to change your DNS settings when you're on cellular data. For those familiar with Android: this approach is similar to the hosts-file ad blocking (adaway and such).

I'll wait until the performance gets better. Gibson's DNS Benchmark shows Adguard DNS to be dead last. Bottom of the barrel.

I am looking forward to dnscrypt support, especially that one embled in Yandex browser, since adguard extension is already part of it.

I thought as much, mine test showed it to be 600% slower, but I have disabled Ghostery and let adguard DNS take over and surprisingly in real life situation, it seems to be faster on some webpages and fine on others, probably because blocking junk actually speeds up loading.

Nice tool, thanks for mentioning it. We definitely should focus at performance, so I've filed a bug report:
    https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardDNS/issues/1

Regarding performance, there are two important notes:
    1. Beta test just started, so servers caches are almost empty. We need some time to warm it up and for popular domains to get cached.
    2. DNS servers are located in NJ, SF and Moscow, so for some locations ping may be huge.

Could you please check the ping to the primary/secondary DNS and tell me what it is?

That is a good idea, we'll look into it:
    https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardDNS/issues/2

Regarding Yandex browser, I am not sure if they allow using a third party dnscrypt server. Are they?

Oh, so they have a hardcoded list. Then I guess we can easily get inside of that list:)

Well, I am somewhat disappointed. I have no issues with the service, it performs excellent, except being slower, but. :'(
I generally try to avoid using anything from US, that is why I use Russian browser, emails and such, so this comes as a shock.
It shows, that Adguard uses Level 3 DNS servers located in USA, or Google servers in Finland, neither one is acceptable for me.

EDIT: I have just found out, that even OpenDNS uses US servers now, it has probably something to do with US Windows I have now?!

@TairikuOkami well, I doubt that you can get to US servers from Slovakia, ping would be simply too huge.

Anyway, we'll also add european servers by the time of release.

Well DNS test says, that your server is 1300% slower than OpenDNS and all tests show US. I do not blame you, something fishy is on my system, since it affects OpenDNS as well, I have always seen German servers only, never US. I really need to find out, what is wrong. :cautious:

Could you please show the traceroute command output? Maybe something wrong is with Anycast settings.

Sure, which webpage or IP would you prefer? RU webpages show RU servers, but I guess, that is expected.

So it goes down to the russian server after all. Then the test result above is weird.

Yeah, nslookup also reports, that the proper DNS server is used, I really wonder, how those webpages test it. Going to dig it out. :geek:
