Sure beats me, but it happens each month when I install Borkersoft Updates.
I'm kinda surprised that no one else is reporting this problem.

That's what has surprised me. I'm guessing it could be a plug-in incompatibility. I doubt it's a hardware problem.

Microsoft starts pushing Windows 10 to domain-joined PCs

So now unless the IT department stays on it's toes it will be possible that the Get Windows X could be rolled out through WSUS.

Micro$oft has became hostile to "all" it's users, probably worse than fighting malware since they know every loophole in the OS even the undocumented ones.

Is it time to take critical systems to an isolated in house network without any type of INTERNET access, even through "software updates" ?

Not the big one (KB3035583), yet it's one of many smaller ones!

I can't wait to try that next month, stapp! Deleting IconCache.db looks like a winner... and such a simple fix, if indeed it works. I'll definitely report back, and thank you for the suggestion. :thumb:

I just did updates for this week. I had to manually run Windows Update. For the last few months, no alert, for new updates, shows up in my toolbar tray as they used to do.

Anyone else have a similar problem (no new update alert in system/toolbar tray)?

Yes. Set to notify, but lately I seem to have to run WU manually to see what there is. Win 7 and 8.1.

I tried to work with what MS recommended but it does not work. WLM is no longer working properly - it does not sync mail accounts. If I install the patch it still does not sync the mail and other problems from the fix makes it worse. Today while surfing around I found out that the patch can not be uninstalled either. Reinstalling WLM is the only solution to overcome the problems created by the fix, however when Outlook dot com gets updated to Outlook Preview within the next few weeks, you have to install the patch. This is a Catch 22.

I decided to move to another email client (non-MS) for business reasons. I have canceled all my accounts on Outlook and Live. As of today, I no longer use either Outlook or WLM on W7 or W10. MS is making it difficult for me to 'love' them in so many ways.

I've experienced the same behaviour on Win 8 (64 bit), but frankly I'm not so concerned as I'm usually aware when updates are ready on bork Tuesdays...

In my case, that GP setting is enabled, but still no WU icon. It also doesn't bother me, for same reason as Osaban above.

http://wikipost.org/topic/KVm4X44Hx...-KB3121212-causes-Outlook-to-not-connect.html "The Critical update KB3121212 dated last Tuesday the 12th causes Outlook to no longer connect to my Gmail accounts.
The Outlook Send/Receive Progress window shows "...error (0x800CCC1A): 'Your server does not support the connection encryption type you have specified. Try changing the encryption method. Contact your mail server administrator or Internet
service provider (ISP) for additional assistance'.
But the problem is not with Google (Gmail) - it is with the Windows update.
All of the settings for Outlook are the same as they were before, and as per instructions from Gmail".
