But I agree. I have always been a Firefox user, and I do worry many favourite extensions will not survive all these changes e.g. this and many others? And Firefox's user base will surely drop even further.
And it seems forks like Cyberfox will be affected too.
Chrome has always given me problems. Not sure how this will pan out and will have to play it by ear; hopefully there are sufficient users demanding the customisation we have had in the past to drive an acceptable evolution - even if it is to another browser/s.

Wow, thanks for posting that DTA link. I didnt know its going to be that bad. I wonder how long until Mozilla asks for a convenience fee for verifying addons. But there's another nasty thing about this too. Come FF 42, unsigned addons cannot be tested in the regular version, wont that severely hurt the developers?

It's nice that Firefox wil finally have sandboxing, but those changes in the addon model is a big trade-off..
NoScript seems to be safe though:

Users and developers can also make suggestions for new API's.

And there is this: http://arewee10syet.com/ Be sure to click on addon on the top.

Lots of extensions will have to be adjusted or won't work anymore....

I have to say that this stuff sounds a bit exciting. It will for sure make things easier for extension writers.

To be honest, Chrome Store is full of crap addons. Maybe it is because I stay away from Chrome browsers, but I don't know any extension that Firefox is missing. Maybe those injecting adds extensions that Chrome has (or had).

Yes to all of this, plus the Theola.F/Mebroot plague. I'm still seeing infections occasionally even though it was supposedly fixed by deprecating NPAPI in Chrome 40. Might be I'm seeing older versions of Chrome on client computers. Unless someone is insistent, it gets immediately replaced with Firefox. Chrome has broken a lot in the past, has huge privacy issues and no real vetting of extensions. At least they've done a better job removing the fakes in the Store. I think I counted 30 or so apps and extensions all using the AdBlockPlus icon a little while back.

Shouldn't this thread named Firefox or Mozilla Firefox, since it moved on from the beta overhaul process quite a time ago ?

FYI. We have a New Firefox Browser Version Released thread already. This thread is being used to announce continuing Beta releases, and to discuss future features pertaining to Beta releases. With 43,000+ views presently, if the tile was changed, it could lose search engines' rankings, and visitors/members might not be able to find it. Best to leave it as is. Thanks for the suggestion.

Haven't thought about the search engine angle, that's a valid point.
