For some reason ublock 0.9.3.5 works but not ublock origin... I downloaded it and have not seen a video ad since.

    Not sure what cause is.

Here is a question. I am trying to block entire Search and Menu bar from yahoo news site. It obstructs almost 10% of my viewing space. I use the ublock picker mode and select entire section. It seems to work until I close Safari and come back to the site to see the ugly search/menu bar again. Anyway on how to keep changes permanent?

Same issue with CNN. Huge title/search bar, re-appears despite being block by ublock.

I created 2 cosmetic rules with the element picker which work even after restarting Chrome:

    Code:
    ! 21.4.2015, 19:47:23 https://news.yahoo.com/
    news.yahoo.com###UH

    ! 21.4.2015, 19:47:35 https://news.yahoo.com/
    news.yahoo.com###GS-UH
    This works for me:

    Code:
    ! 21.4.2015, 19:50:54 http://edition.cnn.com/
    edition.cnn.com###nav-header > .js-navigation.nav

Using gorhill's ublock version, dynamic filtering with firefox and working great. An absolute gem. :thumb:

I was under the impression that gorhill only worked on the google chrome version.

Looks like Swex already answered you. I will keep using gorhill's version untill it doesn't work anymore with FF, so far it does and it does very well. https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases Notice that on gorhill's site that downloads are for firefox there as well.

Thanks but I can't find the "Allow access to file URLs" feature (Firefox uBlock Origin 0.9.4.5 and Chrome uBlock Origin 0.9.4.4)

I removed this, at some point I mistakenly checked-in code which allowed uBlock's content scripts to be injected in file:// pages as well, as an attempt to fix issue 942. When I realized I had checked-in and released that code, I got worried that this could break something as this was not really tested thoroughly. I had no idea before I reversed the commit that users had to further confirm whether content scripts can be injected in file:// pages, which is a good thing.

Well, sorry but for now I'm back to Adblock Plus for the reasons mentioned earlier; I really like uBlock and I hope you gonna bring back that feature as soon as a possible ----> the ability to block ads in local, downloaded web pages < ---- so I can use it again.

Thank you! This worked on yahoo.
Blocking CNN menu bar didn't work.

There is obviously a bug in here. The picker tool is simply not working for me. I select objects on google news site, cnn site and yahoo site and create a rule to hide them but they reappear.
I am using safari and firefox.

Could i just make a little suggestion to the developer of this extension.I sometimes find i forget which column is for what,(global and per site blocking grid.).
It would be nice if these columns had some sort of headings to indicate which one is which.

    Again a great extension .

I would love to see a temporary off switch. Switch being re enabled after a site refresh. Similar concept to the temp rules function for dynamic filtering.

    regards.

I agree. On/Off + Save settings would be great.

I'm often amazed how much uBlock catches. I got 100 requests blocked 1 minute 20 seconds into a Taylor Swift video on YouTube lol.

gorhill mentioned in a comment this evening an intent to place Origin on AMO. If so, see little reason to recommend uBlock over uBlock Origin for Firefox. Particularly as there appears to be no specific plan to place the site specific switches back into the main repo build.

have issues with the newest ublock origin on firefox its causing a lot of pages to either not load or just take forever to load. i switched to the ublock non origin version from chris and those sites load fine. i had been using origin up till this point. any thoughts?

uBlock Origin here it is and here it will remain. Be it be placed on AMO would be legitimate and after all not a new situation regarding forks even if the particularity of the scenario is that the original add-on, ours, uBlock Origin, ironically would appear as the outsider as Adbock Edge does (did) regarding Adblock Plus. I never understood what happened to result in such a bizarre situation. All I know here is that I started with uBlock (to become uBlock Origin), followed the add-on with the explanations and hard work of its developer, Gorhill, and that I have no intention of being pushed around by the winds of an intrigue above my understanding.

Not sure revolt, determination, faithfulness are the correct ingredients for a philosophical approach of one's relation to code :)

I have not been keeping up with this thread for some time. I just read about 6 pages of Ublock possibly being discontinued, and back to Ublock having a future again. Is it safe to say that Ublock is going to be continued for Firefox? I don't want to install it if it's still up in the air. I'm currently using ABP, and it has worked great for me over the years. I'm always up for trying something new though to see if it works better for me.
