    Is there any fix for the program starting during an update when MBAM is set to not run at start-up? I deleted the automated update task because this has become annoying.

    I'd need to know more information about that Charyb - I was not able to find any posted topics from you on our forum about this.

    @AdvancedSetup

    The issue which Charyb is describing has actually been there since V2 saw the light of day and there have been several complaints about it as well. This is the reason why most people who have a license but don't use real-time protection have disabled all scheduled tasks.

    I'm not saying it is there or not, or fixed or not and maybe I'm just not understanding the issue. I have the program installed on many systems and none of them alert or bother me about updates. It operates completely silent for me aside from there being an icon in the tasktray.

    Hopefully my BSOD problems will be fixed by the end of this. May test it out if I have nothing else to do.

    That "when MBAM is set to not run at start-up" might be related to these:
    https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/145101-mbam-2-always-starts-with-windows/?hl=+mbam +always +starts#entry812120
    https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/153237-malwarebytes-always-on-startup-even-when-unselected/?view=findpost&p=855607&hl=+mbam +always +starts
    https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/154565-stop-mwb-starting-with-windows/?view=findpost&p=863790&hl=+mbam +always +starts
    Among all the others.
    This member expressed it best:
    How is it a disabled "Start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware with Windows" means "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware starts with Windows"?

    But if Charyb's issue isn't addressed, is "always-on-startup-even-when-unselected" fixed?

    And while we're at it, how about that "cosmetic" thing where dozens and dozens of user entries in Malware Exclusions self-replicate themselves? Fixed?
    Plenty of posted topics about this in your forum. I remember some one posted up a screen shot where there were about 100 duplicate entries of his/her original 5-6 entries.

    Thanks.

    •Windows 7 x64 & MBAM Premium 2.0.2.1012 on two systems.

    Several months ago I updated MB to v2 and quickly reverted to v1. Just one reason - log files.
    In v1 they were compact text files, in v2 the display is not pleasant to use. Any chance that MB gives us plain old text files?

    There are 2 Start with Windows methods.

    This is a global setting and will remain in affect every reboot.
    One is inside the GUI under SETTINGS -> Advanced Settings -> "Start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware with Windows"

    This was a one time reboot and will revert to the Global setting on reboots after that but was changed in version 2 and should now remove the setting globally.
    On the Tasktray you can right click and uncheck "Start with Windows"

    Then there are some users that have setup their own customized Windows Scheduled Tasks (built-in to Windows) to start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware either on Startup or some other customized way. Some also have shortcut in their Startup group. For those users they need to remove that entry, task, setting, etc on their own as they created it outside of our program or installer.

    If you or someone else is having this issue then I would encourage you to please create a topic on the forum and allow me to help you correct it, or if you like create a ticket on the Helpdesk for it as I'm not able to duplicate it on my systems.

    It actually does support plain text files. Though by default it uses the xml format which I too am not a fan of. It's possibly of value to some businesses that want to script logs but for the average home user they would want a normal text file. I will check that out and see what changes if any have been made with that regard on the log files.

    @ AdvancedSetup,

    Windows Pro 8.1U1 32-bit and MBAM Pro v2.
    I have the MBAM on demand only, please see the settings =

    http://i.imgur.com/iMEtvDY.png
    the "Notify user..." for updates also OFF =

    When the PC starts, the mbamscheduler.exe also runs and remains there =

    http://i.imgur.com/O8aIYSO.png

    In order to stop the mbamscheduler.exe, I have to perform a manual update=
    http://i.imgur.com/DA8myvu.png

    and thereafter the mbamscheduler.exe stops=
    http://i.imgur.com/s5v2AD8.png

    Realtime is OFF, updates is OFF.
    So, what is the purpose for mbamscheduler.exe to starts/runs without my permission?

    Are you serious? I find you three of the MANY "some one else" topics relating to this ONE issue and you want me to create yet another?? I had in mind to do that a while back but several had beat me to it. BTW, the pervasive autoruns/mbam-clean "fix" pasted by the forum copy-pasters, uh deities, repeatedly over the months to this day is ineffective with rare exception.

    Two methods. Global settings. One time reboots. "customized Windows Scheduled Tasks (built-in to Windows)" Sorry, all that means nada. But thanks for the heads-up that the task scheduler (which no one mentioned for this issue) is built into Windows. :D

    Repeat of the best description:
    How is it a disabled "Start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware with Windows" means "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware starts with Windows"?

    I'll just post up good ol' fashioned bullet points:
    •Start with Windows is in the Tasktray UNCHECKED
    •SETTINGS -> Advanced Settings -> "Start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware with Windows" UNCHECKED
    MBAM still starts with Windows.

    From day one, the MBAM Start...with Windows toggle has been BROKEN for many. And it looks like it will remain that way judging from the changelog. Or maybe the next release. :isay:

    Having grandfathered from v1 licenses I purchased years ago, thank you, I can put up with this pain in the derrière. I feel sorry for those who forked over the full price for v2 to become re-beta testers.

    Cheers.

    Are the advanced CLI options back (esp. silent switches) as promised months ago?

    The mbamscheduler is the tool that actually does the updates.

    @FOXP2

    Yes, I'm very serious. Again.... if you need help please open a topic on our forum and ask for me if you like and I'll help you review what's going on because I am not able to duplicate this issue. If you are then I'm sure I can help you find and remove it.

    @SLE
    I'm sorry but no they are not. I wish they were myself but they will not return in this build. Hopefully they will in the next build.

    german translation is still buggy and contains same faults since first seen
    eg "% 1" instead "%1" (same for %2, %3 is fine for unknown reason)
    eg &OK results in _OK (not sure if Unicode or Ansi is faulty)
    some strings are still too long for button:
    eg. copy to clipboard -> "In Zwischenablage kopieren"
    eg Close Notifikation -> "Benachrichtigung schliessen" is too long in general settings

    suggest also "bösartige Webseiten-Schutz" -> "Webseiten-Schutz" only
    i think that protection is always for bad websites, from my view adequate enough

    ^ Do you really believe that this is an answer to my question?
    IMHO, this is a decription for what is the mbamscheduler.exe, I was asking something else:
    "Realtime is OFF, updates is OFF.
    So, what is the purpose for mbamscheduler.exe to starts/runs without my permission?"

    It would be nice to have an option to automatically update before scanning when running context-menu scans.

  24. Request: an option to choose options at install (I for instance don't need IP-filter)

    I don't believe there were any translation changes in this build. It was primarily designed to target fixing some known operational bugs.
