Which means we will get a new crap to be deselected when installing the AV. Hurray! >_>

How I missed Avira 9. I'm starting to think if Avira really deserves to be on my favourite list anymore. Last time I tried it the context-menu scan didn't even work. >_>

@GrafZeppelin I'm curious, do you use any online backup tool? The non-working shell extension scan is an issue we could solve for you.

I have some news regarding this topic. From my understanding, you can still use it on your 5 PCs in this license renewal scenario.

That's a fair and square decision. I hope that is the official/final one.

    Thank you for the clarification.

THIS SUCKS!!!!!! very annoyed now. the only download i could find for update 7 is the STUPID 5mb version and it installed the launchpad which i DO NOT WANT AT ALL and it gave me ZERO options to customize anything. not at all cool. if this is how it will be going forward ill be moving on elsewhere and also letting my clients know to do the same.

i want the old normal installer back not this piece of junk launchpad thing

just tried this again and there is no way off the bat to do a custom install. i do not want the browser safety thing and i also always choose custom install and now i cant? also i was able to uninstall the stupid launcher before and now if i try to it removes the whole program. not cool. hoping someone chimes in here as i sit unprotected. i refuse to install all this garbage. so please let me know if i need to switch to something else or is there a way to install and do a custom install without the launcher garbage??

It's not a paid version, it's not even a free version.
Needed to remind that is just a BETA version?
If you don't like it, just stay away from it.
There are so many AVs around.

no offense anon but thats not the point. beta will soon be RELEASED the same way im sure. they need to change this before its released. ive rolled back to the previous version but this one causes issues with my downloads not finishing. so i NEED the new version to correct this ive been waiting for a fix for the downloads issue for a good while now. this new version imo sucks. you have zero options during install. all you have is a "i accept" then it goes online and downloads the installer and installs the WHOLE thing no options at all. when i tried to "change" the install to see if then you can customize it. nope. then i tried to uninstall the "avira" which before you could do to remove the launcher it simply removes the whole program. so it appears if this gets released this way no one will have an option to not use the "online essentials" it will be forced.

all the companies adding all this junk all the time i am really hoping avira will make a offline installer still available for those who dont want this stuff and want to be able to do a custom install.

    That's the second step.

    The first step was:
No, there is no way to deactivate the prompt to install the OE client.

Personally I don't agree with above decisions but that is what it is ....
    -------------
    Wishful thinking, IMHO.

problem for me is i dont want all the options installed. to me this will just be another bitdefender or other similar now where it doesnt allow you to change anything. so so so stupid. what a way to ruin a great program. well ill have a whole bunch of lic's ill be putting up on ebay or somewhere i guess. i just stocked up for my shop also. just got 75+ boxed copies in the other day. ill get rid of them sooner then later if this is how its going down. im REALLY hoping it will not be final like this but im not counting on that now.

What we could do is close our eyes and hands, let's pray to the manager for change his mind on not doing that(Joke)

Well,if we need to stop it,we need more strong comments in the community to force the manager take back his decision on Force OE
otherwise, they will just said other users like that

No. I prefer to only backup my data to the mediums that I have control over them.

It might have been fixed now, I encountered that problem a few months ago. Repairing the installation didn't help as well as a complete re-install. Thanks for the help though.

"the launcher", commonly referred to as "online essentials", together with "avira answers", is going to be the end of avira..

i dumped avira yesterday after seeing that the idiots at avira had removed the avira-support website, with its knowledgebase..

i have been using the avira-premium av-program for 6 years, and i didn't want to dump it, but everything at avira is so completely screwed up..

well, I still love Avira and all that comes with it. I bought it for its great protection, lightness and personally think some of you make more out of nothing. Avira proves its weight in gold everyday and a thumbs up to all the Avira employees.

People are entitled to express their opinions and frustrations with a product that they deem essential for their security. Avira is not my first layer of defense therefore I can keep a certain sense of objectivity when judging new changes. I have been a customer for 7 years now, and I have never been in a situation whereby their customer support/Avira forum was needed except for a conflict with Sandboxie which was promptly addressed by Avira (about 3 years ago). I find criticism about the program’s functionality justified, but when it is about the company’s strategy and extras that might be bundled together with the installer, it is really Avira’s business… Since I started using Windows 8 about 18 months ago, I've had an absolutely flawless performance from Avira using it without its firewall module and mail guard. This isn’t meant to imply that people who are complaining are putting on an act, but there are many members who are quite happy with the product.

    For performance->those were the days
Many core team has been left and company got change in these few years
we can't expect the products would bring it's golden age before....
But if we want to change,we need strong comments in the community to do that

I tried out the forum section of Avira Answers today and while I can't view the same number of categories or sub forums as on the old forum I didn't find it to bad.

Damn.... I'd just convinced myself if Trjam can keep that same ESET avatar for so long, Ill go ahead & buy Monday for my wife. Then I innocently wandered in here and I see Trjam's switch his Avvy to the big Red Brolly. Then again Monday's too far away.
