Did you check Comodo FW for updates? Apparently they released an unpdate. I installed it recently (less than 2 days ago with intaller of less than 2 weeks old)

I used it for years but finally dumped it due to time and complexity involved in using it effectively. It's been a couple of years now without it and I am delighted without spending so much time maintaining a firewall and then not really being sure or remembering all the script stuff.

It will never be on another machine of mine.

I had a similar experience when I installed the latest Comodo IS on my Win7 laptop. I set it up following Chiron's guide but set the auto-sandbox to fully-virtualized (I am already using standard accounts for normal work). At first everything seemed to be working fine but the next day my wife wanted to use the machine but couldn't. It turned out that Comodo was auto-sandboxing pretty much everything so the system was ground to a halt. Even task manager took forever to open and then it had that nice green border. I like the idea of auto-sandboxing unknown applications but it boggles my mind that Windows itself would be auto-sandboxed as well...

Not really sure why you had that issue. Did you run the trusted vendor scan in the beginning? You should have a list of items that are trusted. Most windows apps are on there. I had been using CFW and CIS for a year and never had it sandbox a windows file. It only sandboxed things occasionally that it wasn't familiar. It was blocked and it was logged.

I only installed the firewall since I already had Panda Cloud Free on that machine and have been happy with it. Maybe it is a compatibility issue with other software installed on that machine but it sure was a nasty surprise.

The problem with Comodo is that it has way too many options, they should keep it simple IMO. :)

For example, you´ve got 5 different sandbox modes (or Restriction Levels), what´s up with that? Sandboxie is way better when it comes to this.

    Tastes differ. :)

You can use the default mode without any tweaking.

AFAIK the Auto-Sandbox is real sandbox only in Fully Virtualized mode. All other 5 modes are just restrictions without any sandboxing.

Have you reported it on Comodo forums? That is the proper way to solve issues in order to get them fixed, especially since you liked it.
WiseCare still deletes process hacker as a task manager, even when set as an exception, I reported it and they promised to fix it.
A bit off topic, but since it caused all the ruckus, do you mind asking me, what kind of compatibility problems? I run 360 IS on Win8.1 x64 Update just fine.

So much kneejerking from the OP. Then again, his posting history shows that he's a bandwagoner. It's one thing to criticize and ditch a piece of software that doesn't work well for yourself, but another to call it garbage just based on that no matter how good it is for others.
