I am wondering why this was discovered so late. Wasn't there a possibility to test this before the official release?

I am sure they are working for it and also FTV as a long time user understands this I think. The 4.0 family changed things as Tzuk told, able to break many programs working and troubles with W8+ and this is a new update, just came yesterday or few days and as I understand it was a major update.

I am glad I have W7, but can feel the upsets with W8+ users :(

Me too. Using Word 2013 last night SBIE became a notification fest. Was planning to test a little further tonight as thought it was latest SBIE beta. Guess I know different now.

Not removing the update though. Will see how it goes and if it doesn't work will swap SBIE out for AppGuard and Shadow Defender until resolved.

These very words shall become all too familiar as the new Sandboxie team, uh, settles in.

So....could this be why I'm having problems with Firefox locking up on me?

Kjdemuth, test running Firefox in a new sandbox. If that doesn't work, I would create a new Firefox profile and then try again running Firefox sandboxed using it.
A new Windows update breaking Sandboxie is nothing new. It has happened before and it always gets fiixed after a few days. I suggest patience and I think you and Christ:cool: ought to post about the "new" issues that you are experiencing after applying update KB2919355. You can do it in this thread.

To avoid this kind of trouble is why I don't update nothing automatically and always wait a few days or weeks to do some Windows updates. Good luck to both of you.

I follow them on twitter and they are announcing seven figure deals by the week for their flagship product, so I would expect a faster response time than with tzuk. It's a multi-million dollar company now and no longer an one-man show.

    Bo,
yeah I already brought this up on the sandboxie thread. I don't know if it is related but it was working fine a few days ago before the update. I'm assuming that it might be the cause.

I think, you should try what I suggested, 1) Create a new sandbox and 2) Use a new Firefox profile to see if your issue goes away. It only takes a few minutes. :)

You're so smart! ;) The new sandbox worked. Of course it didn't help that I wasn't deleting the sandbox after termination. I'll try adding things back on like my Box Sync and stuff. I'll try adding a new profile next but I think the new sandbox and deleting everything in it worked. I didn't even notice I hadn't set the delete invocation back up. Duh.

KJ, using the new sandbox worked and gave the clue that all you needed to do was delete contents, you don't need to change Firefox profiles. And yes, deleting the sandbox fixes many many issues. I set all my sandboxes to delete on closing. The only time that I don't do that is when I install a program sandbboxed and like to keep the installation for a few hours.

yeah I normally do auto delete sandbox. I had recently wiped my HD and was in the process of putting everything back on it. Forgot to adjust my settings. I also just made a new profile. This seems to be working. Thankfully. I didn't really want to give up my sandboxie.

...and therein lies the rub. The money making product will always have priority. Tzuk had no choice other than to keep pace, he had no fall-back. SBIE is now simply a gateway product for Safe Space and will be prioritised accordingly I think we'll find going forward.

Not sure I will post there again Bo my friend. You sometimes need a good friend to get them to even reply to Office 2013 issues as you know ;).

Not given up yet. Windows updates break software all the time. How quickly they get the fix out will be a good temperature test for Invincea support I think.

    Cheers

I understand your frustration Chris, I would feel the same way if Office did not work properly sandboxed in my XP. Since I do everything in Sandboxie, including new documents that I do in Word or Excel, not being able to use Office sandboxed, would make me uncomfortable as I would have to change how I do things.

Fortunately, for me personally, DDE issues in XP were solved by Tzuk before he left and using Libre Office in W7 doesnt cause DDE related problem. I have no idea why this issues have not been solved for W8/W8.1. Perhaps fixing DDE issues in W8.1 is difficult and risky, risky because fixing the issue could lead to other issues. I don't know. But W8 and W8.1 is the present and the future and Sandboxie has to work in those systems like it those in XP and W7 so SBIE keep being successful. DDE issues have to be taken care of in systems like yours. Theres no way around that, in my opinion. Sandboxie also has to work in systems that have KB2919355 applied, I think Innvincea knows that and the fix for the problem caused by applying the mentioned Windows update has to be out soon. They have to get that done.

Thanks Bo. Up until the recent windows update issue the DDE thing with Excel 2013 was the only issue I had and it could be worked around (right-click - send to). Just a PITA really. A lot of security products have issues with Office 2013 Protected View so SBIE is not alone in that. I can be fixed though. BRN will fix this for AppGuard in their latest release (I've tested the fix so know it works) so I'd expect Invincea at least to be trying. Doesn't look like they are, yet. I understand that as not many SBIE users use Office 2013 but to stay in the game you need to support the latest OS/software - particularly MS versions.

Good to hear. Thanks for the good news!

    Cheers

What the hell, I didn´t even know that Invincea was a multi-million dollar company, and was doing so well? :)

This is from: Sandboxing solution Sandboxie acquired by Invincea

I also didn´t know that Sandboxie was used by so many firms? Perhaps Tzuk already was a millionaire? o_O

Btw, I´m really jealous of those Invincea guys, I need to get myself a burger. :D
