Then something else must be interfering with uBO.
When this happens, you could try in a clean browser profile and only uBO with default filters installed.

Already did that and ads still appeared. However, the most recent UBO filters have fixed it.

Yes, there is a lag of a day or two sometimes before uBO's update to Quick Fixes gets rid of the anti-adblocker overlay. If the delay is there, I'd rather open Brave which typically has no issues w/YT than installing and configuring another content blocker. Whatever works.

When it happened last week I got the message that my YouTube player was blocked. The only way to dismiss it was for me to turn off ad blockers. Thankfully UBO gets new filters regularly.

I saw the block the first time today, can I change a certain setting in uBlock to bypass it? Or should I just update my filters and hope for the best?

Go to "Does uBlock Origin (uBO) bypass the latest YouTube anti-adblock script?"
    https://drhyperion451.github.io/does-uBO-bypass-yt/

If it is green and it says YES, it means that uBO's filters can bypass the Anti-Adblocker script.

If nevertheless you see YouTube's anti-adblocker message, uBlock filters – Quick fixes may not be updated yet, in your browser, and forcing an update for uBlock filters – Quick fixes might help.

Hmm, on one machine I get green, while on the other it is red. Both using the same lists and both tested today, though just a few hours between tests.

I have played videos on both machines today and am still yet to see the block at all.

That's not strange. That page simply shows if the current uBlock Origin filters bypass the latest YouTube anti-adblock script. It doesn't matter which browser is used to view that page and whether uBlock Origin is installed.

Probably Opera's ads blocker + the filter lists I use in NextDNS are efficient in this case.

I doubt if it can be blocked on DNS level.

Sorry, perhaps we don't understand each other. Does that site say that Opera will circumvent the anti-adblocker warning? I don't think so. It only says something about the capability of uBO to do so.

Correct, DNS filtering is not able to block this kind of ads.

OK, well I'm never going to feel the slightest sympathy for the funds-challenged YouTube EVER again. Just got an email from YouTube (in my regular in box) to "come join us on YouTube TV" for the Superbowl later this month. You can try the first three weeks free, then pay blah blah. First time for everything.

Fine, spam my email with ads but leave my YouTube videos be. A tolerable compromise. Not even going to send future ones to Spam folder either. :)

I just had a weird YouTube experience. I went to a channel I have bookmarked in Firefox, but did not watch any videos (no new ones had been posted). Then I clicked the YouTube link to go to the home page. Here's where it gets weird. On the YouTube home page there were no videos at all, just a black screen and the normal links on the left of screen. Under the search bar there was a pop up saying something like, 'watch some videos and we'll update your feed'. Without any videos to watch, how was I going to watch videos?

Closed Firefox and checked YouTube with Brave, which was all normal. Re-opened Firefox and YouTube was back to normal again.

I am not, and almost never, sign into YouTube.

Still haven't seen any messages about ad blockers yet, thankfully.

I've seen that before. Just an odd random thing when the page doesn't load correctly.

I thought it must have been something like that but refreshing the page and opening a new tab and going directly to YouTube produced the exact same result.

Also, I've never seen that pop up about my 'feed' before.

In relation to this, various platforms are pushing for subscription, including social media ones, because ads are being blocked and content not always controlled (advertisers want content control because they don't want their ads shown alongside content that they don't like). Also, platforms are also creating more revenue streams, like charging third parties who mine their content, as well as selling content. In this case, it's movies and TV shows, and for others additional services involving commerce and financial trading.
