Should have closed it after the first post. I loose more respect for WSA the more I see how you handle yourselves.

There's nothing suspicious going on from GFI. I've spoken with many people from Sunbelt/GFI over the last few years and have a very good relationship with them. They're great to work with and a fantastic group of engineers :thumb:

Sorry if I offended you but it is the Prevx and WSA product support forum if you need to discuss other products there is a thread already for MRG discussions https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=291818

You know what I think that you are absolutely right on. :thumb:

I have grown too comfortable posting here over the years and I really, REALLY need to start watching what I say. I start typing with fire on my fingers, and I forget that this is supposed to be a Prevx/Webroot support forum. The only mention of other products that is valid here really is compatibility issues when running them alongside Prevx/Webroot.

This is certainly NOT the first time I have posted something controversial/borderline, so I must really emphasize that I am truly sorry. I sincerely apologize for mistakenly, inappropriately insulting GFI / Vipre or any other product on this forum. I am especially guilty because Vipre is a very effective anti-malware application according to reputable test sites; not to mention the fact that my grudge is not with Vipre at all. I simply was not thinking straight when I typed my original posts the way I did--I do not seriously believe in any way that their is a conspiracy between MRG and any anti-malware vendors.

The sole intent of this thread was to encourage people to stop and think before posting Malware Research Group test results. I have seen this done several times over the last few months and it concerns me because as a long time Prevx endorser, I feel the integrity and reputation of their product is being put at risk by potentially incorrect, invalid, and/or non-reputable test results. I frequently advise and mentor people on computer security and networking, and when I tell them Prevx technology is simply amazing and then they see this crap, it doesn't look good.

The growing field (I guess it can be called) of amateur malware testing and posting it on websites like YouTube is becoming populated with inexperienced, unprofessional individuals that perform faulty tests that have very limited veracity (and not to mention often sound to me like they are seniors in high school [and also not to mention use Microsoft NotePad to narrate their videos]). Sadly, if you search for "Webroot SecureAnywhere detection rates:, you will already see people re-posting and commenting on MRG's results. Now I am not saying that MRG is amateur necessarily, but I do have serious doubts on their reputability as a testing organization.

So in closing, I have edited my original posts and removed any mention of GFI / Vipre because I wrote those hastily this morning while multi-tasking and I failed to realize how offensive, incorrect, and cynical my generalizations were. The ONLY point I was trying to make was to not rely on Malware Research Group's results for accurate, trustworthy evaluation on the effectiveness of anti-malware products.

Thank you, and I am sorry.
