It's a Paid firewall with HIPS.

Online Armor++ is the one that has antimalware.

OA Premium is Firewall and HIPS only, one step above the free version!

That is not the case for awhile now and all depends how high you have your Heuristics settings, they have made many changes in the cloud to reduce FP's IMO!

Prevx is constantly improving at a fast rate.
you can't say its bad if you've tried it last few weeks or a month without trying it again.

Maybe I'll give Prevx a try...
Is it right that Prevx needs an active internet connection all the time?
Are there plans to introduce a local cache like in Panda Cloud Antivirus? PAC is able to work (detect and block) if the connection is temporary down.

Yes it's true that you need active Internet connection but there will be some big additions in Version 4 of Prevx to Protect when there is no connection as 99% of the time if you are going to get infected is when you are online! If you have more Questions about Prevx come over to the Prevx forum and Joe (PrevxHelp) will be happy to answer your questions you have about protection that Prevx 3.0 gives when offline!

Gone back to Look'n'Stop I needed my speed back LOL! No really as I said time and time again I hate HIPS I think that because I'm using WiFi I was getting conflicts with Prevx and Outlook 2010 so all seems to be great now!

You are right. Prevx gives many false positives. More than the usual Antivirus program IMHO. Also, removal is not free and Prevx is quite expensive IMHO.

 people are spirited away to only look at the strengths of the blacklisting properties of an antimalware eh?

:isay: The antimalware part of Prevx is strong but its not perfect like any other AVs/AMs...
I'm sorry but IMO the gold is not there, but on its SafeOnline engine.

the free antimalware part is just a BONUS, it offers free malware detection only and is recommended and compatible to run alongside with any one AV/AM without slowdowns.

Prevx will let your AV detect the malware first, if your AV succeeded in detecting and removing the malware... Prevx wont nudge you about anything.
but when your AV misses the malware, Prevx will come to work and inform you if it detects anything.

Since Prevx uses a very powerful behavioural detection, which might give you false positives (FP)... you can then upload the file suspected file to Virustotal for further analysis, if it is indeed an FP, you can safely exclude it from being detected again by adding it in the detection overrides.

If you had the time to report the FP drop an email at: report@prevxresearch.com
or you could just simply tell it in Prevx section of this forum.

Considering you want to minimize applications, I would skip Prevx free, and just use Hitman or Malwarebytes quick scans 2-3 times per week.

Keep in mind Prevx free does not really protect you, but rather tells you once you are infected. I recently tested Prevx free for the heck of it, and it did not stop anything. Therefore it is only good for telling you when you are infected, and you can get the same with other programs, without using up real-time memory.

    Hi Clocks,

I did not realize that Prevx did not stop attempts to intrude. I suppose it is worth something to confirm that you are not infected.

So far in over 10 years of inexpert computer use I have not been infected. A couple of times my AV caught tries at infection, but always prevented them.

Since I have 8 gigs of memory I am not noticing any problems with what I am using.

    Thanks for the comment.

    Regards,
    Jerry

Prevx paid will protect you pretty well, but the free version is fairly worthless IMO, especially after testing it for myself. Why use up realtime ram/cpu, when it is not going to prevent much of anything?

Not sure if this is pointed at me. I prefer Norton or Comodo, which I would not consider reliant on blacklists.

Prevx Free is my core security program right after LUA/SRP.

I dont have any realtime AV... LUA/SRP won't allow malwares to run
Prevx FREE tells me the location of malware and I'll just locate it and delete it.

    end of story.
