    Hi there,

I installed Spyware terminator and had it run it's initial scan. It found one critical object stating it as a trojan, wininit.exe. I searched the net on it and some sites say it's a normal windows file and other say it's part of W32.HLLW.Bymer virus.

I looked for parent files like dnetc.exe associated with the virus and it's not present on my comp. PLus, Nod32 don't find anything wrong.

    Is that a false positiveo_O

    Thanks

If you upload to VirusTotal, this will give you the benefit of another 26 AV/Antimalware scanners ;)

If any of these return detections then it is likely not to be a F/P.

If however it is F/P then it would be helful if you contact the software vendor to inform them of this event so they can take remedial action for it.

    Fingers crossed!

Thanks for this very helpful link.

No virus found from all these AV.

Reported this to the software distributor.

    Thanks again.

Wininit.exe is a usual file in Windows Vista, if you use Vista that´s nothing to worry about if not it´s a virus.
