Any Sandboxie users that have not already applied today's high priority updates should hold off.
    On my XpSp3 machine,sandboxie has become non-functional.

Yeah, it borked me too. Something from today's updates is not allowing Sandboxie access to a registry key.

Yeah, from the postings over on the SB forums it appears to be an XP issue.

Someone over there is pinning it on MS10-021/KB979683, the kernel update.

    No,It seems confined to XP.

But it does a bang up job there.

    Ok,well,that was pretty much painless.

Removed update MS10-021/KB979683,and Sandboxie is back up and running fine.

These guys are pretty danged quick at troubleshooting.

    happy as a fat,

What is the procedure for removing MS10-021/KB979683? I cannot find it in the Add Remove Programs list.

I installed Tzuk's fix. Sandboxie works now, but I get many errors (most related to having "Drop Rights" enabled). I would like to just uninstall MS10-021/KB979683 for now until the problem is fully resolved.

    Thanks in Advance.

It should be on the list.
Do you have show updates checked on the add/remove programs page?

I installed the Sandboxie "Fix" update on my other Windows XP Pro PC, restarted and then installed today's Windows Updates. After restarting, I am getting batches of Sandboxie errors on each web page load.

I tried running IE7 in my Sandbox that has no Access Restrictions but I also get batches of errors on each web page. I disabled "Drop Rights" on that Sandbox and the errors went away.

I disabled "Drop Rights" on my Firefox Sandbox while leaving my Access Restrictions. I got a whole mess of errors, one after the other, and had to close Firefox with Windows Task Manager.

Is anyone else having these problems?

    Thanks in Advance.

I gave up on the 2nd PC in the Post above. I performed a Image for DOS Differential Image Restore to one week ago and turned off Windows Update until I feel comfortable that the problem is solved.

I plan to Restore the other PC in a like manner soon.

Tzuk is fast. The 3.45.07 update fixed the problem. Using XP Pro and have the KB979683 update installed. No problems here.

It shows here what the problem is and how Tzuk fixed it.

I plan to give the Microsoft Patch Tuesday Updates a try again this weekend. Installing the "fix" on top of Sandboxie 3.44, then installing the Patch Tuesday Updates did not work for me before. Is the following the best way to go?

Current setup: No Patch Tuesday Updates, Sandboxie 3.44 Paid

    1. Uninstall Sandboxie 3.44, removing configurations settings.
    2. Restart PC.
    3. Install the Sandboxie with the Patch Tuesday "fix".
    4. Restart PC.
    5. Turn on Windows Automatic Updates and install the Patch Tuesday Updates.
    6. Restart PC.
    7. Test Sandboxie to see if it works without giving any Message alerts.
    8. Configure Sandboxie the way I had it before.
    9. Test Sandboxie again to see if it works without giving any Message alerts.

    Thanks in Advance.

Sandboxie is working OK on both of my Windows XP Pro PC's now.

I updated Sandboxie from version 3.44 to 3.442 today (no uninstall or configuration changes). I restarted the PC and then installed all of the April 13 Windows Patch Tuesday Updates. I restarted the PC after the installing the Windows Updates and Sandboxie works fine now.

I'm now getting a warning from Windows 7 about "attempting to open a file of type Application extension (.dll)" every time I try to start up the Sandboxie icon that replaces the IE icon. If I right-click Firefox and "run sandboxed", it works fine. I don't know if I can attribute it to the update or not, but before the update I had no issues.

I almost never update my Windows XP because no matter how often you update, your windows just never get perfect, sometimes even come up new problem. Which mean still you need those security software, system utilities. Since you already setup layered defense, why you still want to update ? ;)

I am not try to against those fellows who always want to update their windows, but I just want to share some thoughts here, because this is the world. :doubt:

Hope you guys can resolve this time of update problem.:)

    Regards
