it would be great if eset add protection for Windows Live Messenger 2009
Oh I should have read this thread before PMing Marcos
For those of you that don't know, the new Live Messenger forces you to need a virus scanner typed into the box, or you can't transfer files at all.
Well until a simpler way is added you can always browse to ecls.exe and choose the command line scanner.
This is for v3 but should work for v4
The only scanner I have seen add itself to Messenger is One Care, but I wouldn't use that if it was free.
Is the an effective command-line we can put in there like it was for
version 3 of ESS?
But mait according to tech n test results its been doing real good for some time now
Yes that's what is supposed to be entered, but the point is it should be done by ESET automatically, because in the new Windows Live you cannot transfer files without one.
True, but that isn't my complaint with it. It lacks options and lagged my boot time considerably.
As I am using Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) I found out that I can do the same thing with that program to virus scan downloaded files by adding this directory path: "C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Smart Security\ecls.exe" under "Check for Viruses" on Options/Download preferences as I just downloaded Windows Live Messenger 2009 and it worked correctly by briefly displaying a small DOS scanning window at the end.
Yes, you can.
