I am running AVG Free and Windows Defender with Win 7 Home Premium.

I have Defender set to scan nightly. Every few days, I notice the scan hasn't run because Windws Defender has been turned off. That's not something I'm doing - any thoughts as to why that's happening?

Many AVs, disable Win Defender, as it becomes redundant.

At one time I know Avg used to disable Defender perhaps this is still the case?

Thanks for the quick replies. I didn't realize AVG also has an anti-malware feature - I thought it was solely AV.

So I guess using AVG and running a malwarebytes scan weekly does make defender redundant.
