Windows PE and Windows 7 boot ok in legacy mode.

And there´s no problem booting Windows 8 setup in UEFI mode.

But when trying to boot Windows 7 64 bit setup in UEFI mode it freezes during logo display.

    What´s the big difference ?

Already read those. One is about just enabling UEFI and selecting DVD drive with installation. The other one is also about that with the addition that it is also possible to do from an USB drive by copying installation iso to USB drive partition.

When copying windows 7 64 bit iso with rufus (GPT fat32) to USB the result is still a freeze during setup in UEFI boot mode

Have you checked for a newer BIOS/UEFI firmware for your machine? It should work so it looks to be a compatibility problem not a configuration problem.

Yes, the BIOS is updated. The Acer manufacture states that they don´t support Windows 7 with drivers. But the BIOS has both Legacy and UEFI boot options and Windows 7 does work in legacy mode.

The freeze happens when setup loads disk.sys driver. Other forum posts suggest that it has to do with the SATA driver.

If SATA controller in BIOS is changed from AHCI to IDE it also changes the freeze during setup. It still freezes but it is "working a little more" and loading from the drive.

If the installation was done in legacy mode, the SATA driver is missing in Device Manager and has to be downloaded from Manufacture´s website and installed.

So maybe if the driver could be added to Windows 7 setup files somehow before the freeze ?

it seems that you need a specific Intel driver that is not in the installation medium.

What kind of computer are you using? Does it have an mSATA configuration?
