Does anyone know if the Windows 7 64 bit XP Mode (virtual) is safe to use in a malware test? Browser use in particular.

    Thanks for any brave replies.

Knowledge is gained two ways: Based on your own experience or someone else's. The adventurer chooses the former while the wise choose the latter.

i would say no. IMO the virtual machine will need the same security as the host machine. xp mode is still windows xp and still needs patching just like any version of windows. i dont know if there is any exploits in virtualpc at this time that could exploit the host OS or not.

XP mode is to help you run stuff, not to create an isolated environment for malware testing. On the contrary, it's there to help get old code run well on new OS, so ... what you're asking for is contrary to what it does.
