My colleague has a Dell Inspiron 1501 Laptop running Vista Home. The HD was corrupted and he has not a rescue disc or a recent disc image of his HD. The HD has a small partition with the Manufacturer backup "to factory" configuration. It is not possible to boot from the HD He would like to purchase a new HD and is willing/checking to install Win7. 1. how to check which HD type is installed (IDE or SATA) - for replacement We checked the manual but couldn't find the type 2. The CPU is AMD Turion 64x2 1.60 gHz and and the RAM has 2x512K Which Win7 (i.e. Premium, Home, Ultimate, etc.) is the most compatible Thanks
