    Hi all,

    I probably miss something here. this is what I get when I try to scan some files... It simply stops there and does not give a final answer on the infection status.

    I noticed this happens with .exe files or .mp3 etc.....

    Mystery ? o_O

    thanks for help

    Tony

    Hi Tony,

    As far as I know:

    When you scan a file, TDS-3 does not tell you that file is OK; it only will tell you a warning in case that file is infected.

    Let's get an example:
    TDS-3 was not running.
    I right clicked my Lavasoft (Ad-Aware) directory to scan it with TDS-3.
    TDS-3 started.
    And here is what I got:
    ===
    23:05:59 [TDS] Good evening Jan.
    23:06:33 [Memory Scan] Memory scan started, please wait a moment ...
    23:06:41 [Memory Scan] Memory scan complete.
    23:06:41 [Mutex Memory Scan] Started...
    23:06:43 [Mutex Memory Scan] Finished (no trojan mutexes found).
    23:06:43 [Trace Scan] Started...
    23:07:19 [Trace Scan] Finished.
    23:07:19 [File Scan] Scanning in -scand C:\Program Files\Lavasoft
    23:07:19 [File Scan] Scanning in C:\Program Files\Lavasoft ...
    23:07:20 [CRC32] Started - verifying 182 files ...
    23:07:37 [File Scan] Scanned 91 files: 0 alarms in 17.91406 seconds (Avg 6.08 files/sec)
    23:07:43 [CRC32] Test finished.
    ===

    Now, TDS-3 was already started, I scan a single file : Ad-Aware.exe
    Here is what I get.
    The only line added in my TDS-3 console, was:

    ===
    23:14:04 [File Scan] Scanning file C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Professional\Ad-Aware.exe
    ===

    But : in case an infection was found by TDS-3, you would have seen an alert in the TDS-3 console !

    I hope this helps.
    Cheers, Jan.

    OK thanks Fanj..... If this is the way it goes I'll get used to it.

    I noticed it responds on directories and not on single files or zipped/winrar files

    I still have to learn about it.... :rolleyes:

    Cheers

    Tony

    If it scans the file and nothing is reported, the bottom detections window will not appear at all as in your case :) the scan has definitely finished if you see that. Try scanning a folder of clean files, the detection window will auto hide

    Hi tony64, I couldn't help noticing your updated data base numbers and was wondering if you had seen the few threads in this forum about how to edit the update server list to make sure you are receiving the most current updates. Mine say [46671 references - 22563 primaries/11956 traces/12152 varients/other] <Databases updated 11-02-2005> I apologize for not being able to provide a link but I am new to this forum stuff.

    ShadoWalker.
