No conflict here, simply not needed. Just for checking new files. As well as an occasional scan suits me just fine.
I thought that was what you meant. I'm currently running MBAM real time, but I may soon wean myself off of it as I grow more accustomed to Sandboxie. I have been of the opinion that it is a terrific complement to resident protection, but my world is changing now with the addition of Sandboxie.
I am regret to purchase the MBAM Pro, because it cannot install to my Windows 7 Ultimate 32Bit,but Malwarebytes didn't responded to me at this issue at all.
Interim summary, Part III... (24 more votes since last tally, and the percentages remain virtually unchanged.) After 100 votes, things are split nearly 50-50, with an edge going to paid users over free users. 47% (47) of the users enjoy the free version and 53% (53) have paid for a license. Of the paid users, 41½% (22 ) run it real-time. 58½% (31) licensed users keep it as an on-demand scanner. Thanks to those who are participating in the poll!
(On-Demand): 78% (Real-Time): 22% Bottom Line: MBAM has been mostly used as an On-Demand Scanner (as opposed to a Real-Time solution).
The stated question when the poll was created was how many have purchased a license? So I'd call the bottom line 47% free 53% paid. The real-time vs on-demand comparison, however, is an interesting offshoot.
If I remember rightly the poll was created as a result of a poster questioning the reason why so many people had not been able to answer his question on MBAM IPblocking. The reason I gave was that so many people used the free version which does not offer this. Neither does the paid version that is only used on-demand. I guess you could say both sets of figures are correct
I have 5 computers but I installed the paid version on the two I use the most. The others have the free version.
I used it on demand for several years, but recently bought the paid due to it's effectiveness against rogues.
Sorry, I was simply more interested in the Security-aspect (On-Demand vs. Real-Time) than the Market-aspect (Paid License vs. Freeware). Besides, it is your Poll after-all, and I respect this.
Hi Mr.PC... Ah, but what you deem the Market-aspect (Paid License vs. Freeware) definitely has an inherent security aspect, simply because the licensed version has features that the free version doesn't, right? The licensed Pro version offers the RealTime Protection Module, IP Protection, and scheduled updates and scans. When I asked who is using free and who is using paid, while I was naturally curious about the Market-aspect, my main interest had more to do with who was using the added security features (and was willing to pay for them). What I wasn't prepared for (and was pleasantly surprised by) was the people who use the product on-demand but still opted to pay to support the developer. What a great gesture. As for this being my poll... once it is posted, the participants become the real owners. At least that is how I see it.
The tide has changed, if ever so slightly... After 123 votes, the edge now goes to free users over paid, 62 to 61. Recently I stopped running MBAM realtime, but of course still rely upon it for scheduled on-demand daily scans.
I never used MBAM in a permanent setup, but i do recommend it to friends (Free Version of course). BUT if any day i get a rogue of some sort, here i go MBAM!!
