I have been running 2.70.16 at home since it was released. I updated it manually by installing over the top of 2.51.

At work our desktop PCs are configured to update from a mirror server on the company LAN, rather than one of the Eset servers directly. This mirror server gets automatic updates from the Eset servers.

We are still running version 2.50.25. Version 2.51 passed us by, presumably because this was never released as an automatic update.

Although we get daily virus signature updates, we are still waiting for the program to update to version 2.7.

When is this likely to happen?

At some point in Mid-December was the answer given. They would want to be certain that any issues that pop up are dealt with before a major push, thus time is given to allow for such instances.

    Cheers :D

I'll pass this on to our IT Manager.

I've always found NOD32 to be one of the most reliable pieces of software that I use, but, being a software developer myself, I understand their caution.
Hopefully the forthcoming security suite will be of the same high standard.

    Thanks guys. :)

    NOD32 V2.7...Getting close to autoupdate?

Rather than rushing out and downloading the update, I decided to just wait until NOD automatically updates itself to V2.7.

I had heard that the target for this was mid December.

Any news on how that is progressing?

Automatic update will have the very same effect as if you installed NOD32 2.7 over your version now.

Very good. I just assume have it done automatically rather then spend my time downloading.

Now, is there a revised timeline for when the autoupdate will happen?

Unless you're doing more than one machine, the time it takes to download manually is less than the time spent posting about it here. :)

There must be issues that have cropped up as it's Wednesday the 20th.

Just download & install the new version and check "keep settings".
    Done deal.

When you run the installer, it's one of the first things you'll see.

I might do it this evening after getting back from seeing Casino Royale. If not then tomorrow. EDIT Over the top install went fine. The only problem is my wife wanted to see Happy Feet.

This works only if you use the same language. I could not update from french version 2.5 to english version 2.7, it asked me to first uninstall the nod32 2.51.26 because of a language issue.

Argh ! What does the french resseler does ? I must admit that between holidays and strikes, few moments are left for working in this country :)

I think there are issues with the 2.7 version and that is why they are not pushing it out to the autoupdate users.

For instance, for me I tested the 2.7 version on my LAN, buy downloading it and installing it over the 2.5 version. I thought everything was fine until my proxy cache was being corrupted by some nonstandard/invalid browser requests from the computers running the 2.7 version. Must be some bug in the IMON module or something.

I believe the same issue happened with the automatic update to version 2.5 some time ago....I really cannot think why this happens except for "inefficiency".

It's for safety reasons, we have already learnt a hard lesson when all versions were released at once and then some problems were discovered.

For the record, I heard from my distributor today that the v2.7 component update is being rolled out right now. ESET are rolling it out country-by-country to avoid unnecessary load on the download servers. The UK and anyone using the English version can expect to receive the update within the next 7 days.

Well thats good to hear....but I do think that every way of releasing a new version (standalone package, component update via updater, non-English versions etc.) should be thouroughly tested before official launch of the new version. That way, everyone gets updated to the new version quickly with minimal complaints.

The majority of the millions of NOD32 users worldwide are blissfully unaware of any other version being available other than their currently installed v2.5.

    Cheers :D
