I was just reading this article about Apple the 'Microsoft of music'. It got me to wondering why Apple, Microsoft, Sony, and others need to confuse us with all of their proprietary music file formats. Why can't they just stick with MP3?

And why does the music industry foist silly copy protection schemes on us that force us to use Windows Media Player. I hate Media Player, and I want to stick with the MP3 format.

    Hi Close_hauled....

All of my stuff I have on HDD music wise is in MP3 format... and I use WMP to play it, lol, but I don't have a problem myself with MP3. I like it.

The music I have dl'd was *pre* anti music dl now enforced by ARIA and in the MP3 format... I have even burnt MP3's to disc and play it in car stereo just fine. ;)

WMA format sounds quite pleasing to my ears. MP3 format songs are not bad too. But, i prefer WMA format songs, cos' the file size is smaller than MP3s. WMA and MP3s sound alike, but WMA format songs are smaller compared to MP3s.
Do u know why they wanna force people to use windows media audio? B.gates is gonna start a media war with his upcoming WMP 10. He thinks that Windows media should be the king of music formats. That is, WMA format songs.
