What password-length do you use on most websites? I turned off public polling, so your answer can't be used against you by hackers.

    Hello,

Password: usually 4-8 characters or so. Voted 6.
Regarding 'hackers', again, the same answer that I used in your bank poll.
It's like saying Swiss accounts have 14 digits in them. So?

I think I have 11. I let Roboform create the passwords. I have no idea what passwords I have on different sites (Well, I could look in roboform but would never remember them anyway)

There are one or two sites that I use outside of my computer (so I need to remember the pw) and they are 9 characters.

@InfinityAz: Since SuperGenPass is scriptbased, isn´t there a risk that this script could be exploited and then pick up your masterpassword to collect the rest of your passwords? I´m just wonder since the password result is the same every time based on your masterpassword and the url of the site.

I have nine passwords I use on different sites. All are seven characters long or longer. They are not written down anywhere I just memorize them. So far no one has hacked into my mind to get them:D :thumb:

Hehe. Mind-hacking...now THATs good stuff, who cares about stupid forums accounts (which are free?). Yeah, Mind hacker...I'm gonna do that. Get into someone's mind, steal secrets, mess up their lives ( I think they're called women?)

Right-o. I use 1 nick and 1 pw for all forums. The pw is the name of my right big toe. Hack away.

I checked 7. I usually do between 5 and 7. The most I have used is about 11. I try to use longer ones for sites where I want it to be harder for one to guess. I have no idea why I feel that way because I feel password length is less important then mixture of numbers and letters and keep it difficult - no dictionary words. I am requried to take a pc security course yearly. Picking a good secure password has been covered heavily.

On every site or "computer place" I have put different passwords - some are 9 , some are 11 , but most are 10 , so I voted 10 :p

I use 6 characters for things like forums, and general web site logins. I 'm not too concerned if someone cracks my password to my catalog website. If they want to buy my something all they have to do is ask. The banks want 8 characters for some reason. I would prefer 12 but they won't have it. But generally I will have "Password Safe" create an 8 character password at random for me.

I voted 6 then stopped and counted. oooops....should have been 8. :ouch: It is alpha-numeric so it can not be cracked using a dictionary search. As mentioned my password and user name are the same for the forums I belong to. However I get very serious :cautious: with log-ins when it comes to my bank and bill paying sites.

On sites such as forums and webmail accounts where there's no real personal data to protect, my passwords vary from 7 to 16 characters, average about 10.
