Why do you think ADBlock Plus is better?

NoScript, CookieSafe, Adblock, Tab Mix Plus, FormFox (maybe, still checking it out), United States English Dictionary (sorry England, i dunno why i picked this one)

It's faster, more efficient and offers better ad blocking through optimized filter lists.

so is there an extension which tells you whether any of the extensions you have is malware? although i just remembered why i stopped using firefox lol because it goes behind your back every 30 minutes and contacts google, plus firefox was spyware itself before someone asked what they thought they were doing and changed the behavior  (it was to do with RSS feeds and favicons )

This problem is fixed in FF2.0.0.1 - see http://www.mozilla.org/security/announce/2006/mfsa2006-75.html

    Other issues:
    • To prevent the newly introduced "super cookies" set "dom.storage.enabled" to "false" - see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Dom.storage.enabled
    • Web bugs: In older FF versions a checkbox under “Tools → Options → Content” was available to allow loading images “for the originating web site only". In FF 2.x this checkbox is no longer available. You can control this behaviour now via "permissions.default.image" - see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Permissions.default.image . A more convenient way on per site basis is the extension ImgLikeOpera where you can block images not from the originating site by default but specify sites where you allow them.

I think what she is referring to as far as it calling Google has to to with the phishing site filter\warning. You can go into Tools\Options\Security and remove the check mark from "Tell me if a site I am visiting is suspected of forgery". Or leave that check mark in place and chose from the other options they offer to get a list from.
As far as favicons, they can be disabled in about:config. browser.chrome.favicons set to false. As far as the RSS feeds, I do not use them so I do not really know or worry about them.

hi, this is what i did to stop firefox contacting google -
    Code:
about:config <---- type that in to the address bar
then paste this into the filter bar that's just below the tabs
    Code:
    browser.safebrowsing.enabled
then double click it so it goes to false

i also installed cookiesafe and checked this option -
    Code:
    allow for originating website only

This is not necessary. The phishing protection contacting Google is only enabled if you check the appropriate box in the Security preferences pane in the Tools menu. See http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/phishing-protection/

The original question was related to RSS feeds which is another problem. More exactly: was another problem as it is fixed in FF 2.0.0.1, see my other posting above.

thought I add not extensions but search engines and resources you can load into firefox's built in search box

you can find most any favorite you want at the Mycroft Project
    http://mycroft.mozdev.org/install.html

obviously it comes loaded with google, ect
kartOO (a visual flash metasearch engine, totally different kind of info worth learning)
wayback machine (internet archive, need to input urls, also use the cache extension)
    Wikipedia
Google Images (saves a click or two)
    del.icio.us
a bunch of bittorrent search engines
    onelook dictionary
    urban dictionary
    thesaurus.com
    youtube
but you get the idea, the main one is mycroft to find what you want and use ;)

Yeah, that might be it. I remember vaguely I did try a Vista theme long time ago. I do not have that theme installed anymore but I will try to find it and install it again to see if I can get rid of it. Thanks.
